Brigitte Golabkan from Guadeloupe is Miss Caraïbes Hibiscus 2013-2014

Recently the 23rd annual Miss Caraïbes Hibiscus pageant was held at Casino Royale at Sonesta Maho Beach Resort and Casino in Maho, where eighteen beautiful women from all over the Caribbean and some South American vied for the title. In the end Miss Guadeloupe Brigitte Golabkan won the title and was crowned Miss Caraïbes Hibiscus 2013-2014.

Making the top 10 after the evening wear and swimwear parade, were the representatives of: Bolivia, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guadeloupe, Panama, Venezuela, Guyana, French Guiana, and Trinidad and Tobago.

In the sectional awards Miss Curaçao Genesis Raphael was named Miss Amity while Miss Suriname Kyran Rampersad was awarded Miss Popularity. Best Traditional Costume was won by Miss Panama Lesbia Lobo; Best Evening Gown awarded to Miss Bolivia Luciana Arancibia, and Miss Venezuela Andrea Escobar Colombo, walked away with Miss Photogenic.

First runner-up went Miss Dominican Republic Rosa Emilia Martinez-Javier while Miss Ecuador Maria Jose Maza was named the second runner-up.

 

The Masters of Ceremonies for thee grand finale were Bobo and Raïssa of Guadeloupe, and performers for the night were Oswald, Viet Zu Coeur and Afro Latin Move.

Meet Shantana Folkes Miss Jamaica Caraibes 2013

The 23rd Edition of the Miss Caraibes Hibiscus Pageant will take place in St. Marteen. The pageant will run from November 29th to December 9th, 2013. Miss Caraibes Hibiscus is an annual international beauty contest for all countries of the Caribbean and the America. It was founded in 1990 in the French part of Saint Martin. Shantana Folkes will be Jamaica’s Ambassador to the pageant. She was chosen from among several of applicants. Shakira Martin represented Jamaica in 2012 and placed in the top 10.

 

The Miss Caraïbes Hibiscus winner will serve as the spokesperson for the Caribbean and the Americas. She will travel on promotional trips, the contestants each have a lot more to offer, giving meaning to the saying "beauty and brains!"

Tell us about yourself?

I was born and raised in the picturesque parish of St. Ann, Jamaica. At the age of fourteen, I migrated to the United States where I am currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Biology. I aspire to one day become a physician who is able to positively impact my community, and particularly, the Caribbean and the Americas. I consider myself to be a very warm, caring and goal-oriented individual, who never stops at welcoming new learning experiences in my life, whether it is personal, developmental or spiritual in nature and also helping others along the way. I always try to embrace everything that life has to offer and channel that into positive energy

Why Miss Caraibes Hibiscus?

The Miss Caraibes Hibiscus competition highlights young women across the region that “possesses beauty with brains”. I believe that I possess not only these qualities but also a strong sense of purpose and passion. The competition for me is the embodiment of regional awareness and I have always been active in educating my peers about all that the Caribbean culture has to offer. It also encourages self-confidence among young women and that is a quality that is necessary in becoming a strong and meaningful individual. I am excited to continue to challenge myself in this area and become a proud ambassador of not only Jamaica, but the Caribbean at large.

Why should the judges select you as Miss Caraibes Hibiscus?

I believe that the Miss Caraibes Hibiscus winner should be someone who is willing to go above and beyond in fulfilling her duties to serve others, especially the Caribbean community. I am eager to learn and expand my knowledge, while making a full commitment to these duties. In conjunction with my strong affection for everything Caribbean, I believe that I would make an ideal candidate for the title and hope to focus on promoting a platform where the wide array of different Caribbean cultures are able to be integrated. It is also my belief that this would be a year well- spent doing something that I truly enjoy, while making a meaningful contribution to the awareness of my region.

Miss Guadeloupe, Elody Pradel wins Miss Caraibes Hibiscus 2013

Miss Guadeloupe, Elody Pradel won the title at the 22nd Miss Caraibes Hibiscus Pageant from a field of 19 contestants which was held at the Casino Royale in St Maarten recently.

The 20-year-old also walked away with $10,000 cash prize along with gifts from Sports Gallery, L’Orangerie Boutique, Park Avenue, Touch of Class, Ultimate Jewellers, Hip Up, Shoppers Plaza and Anthony Quintana.

Elody Pradel, who no stranger to beauty pageants as she participated in the Miss United Nations and was recently placed second runners up in the Miss International 2012 which was held in Okinawa Japan. She

The first runner up went to 22 year old Melissa Him Betancourt from Panama who received $2,000 in cash, while Milady’s Tara Barrios from Venezuela was awarded second runner up and $1,000 in cash

Miss Amity was awarded to 21 year old Ranee Laronde of Antigua.

Miss Popularity title went to Miss St Maarten, 21-year-old Stephanie Fraites

 

Those making it to the top 10 included Miss Antigua & Barbuda, Miss Bolivia, Miss Colombia, Miss Guadeloupe, Miss Jamaica, Miss Panama, Miss Puerto Rico, Miss St Barths, Miss Suriname and Miss Venezuela.

 The crown was passed on by last year’s queen Olivia Pinheiro from Bolivia winner in an emotional ceremony. She said   ‘Saint Martin/St Maarten was her second home. “I have a place in my heart for this island now,” she said. And when it was time to crown Pradel, she did so with honor and with a wonderful smile on her beautiful face. Her job is finished, now it’s Pradel’s turn.

Shakira Martin Representing Jamaica at the Miss Caraibes Hibiscus Pageant 2013

Shakira Martin is currently in St.Maarten representing Jamaica in the Miss Caraibes Hibiscus pageant. The pageant runs from November 28 until December 8th. Jamaica last won this pageant in 1993, when Rachel Stuart walked away with the title.


Shakira represented Jamaica in the Miss Universe pageant in 2011. She will take this experience to the pageant and is confident of doing well.

 

She has done research on the pageant and believes she would be a great spokesperson for the pageant. She also loves the opportunity of travelling to various countries.  The winner of the pageant will travel to countries in the region and overseas marketing the Caribbean.

Shakira is passionate about raising an awareness of Sickle Cell Anemia and raising funds to assist persons fighting the disease.

 

Miss Caraibes Hibiscus is an annual International beauty pageant for all countries of the Caribbean and the Americas. It was founded in 1990 in the French part of Saint Martin.

Miss Caraïbes Hibiscus to be host in Saint Martin

The 22nd annual Miss Caraïbes Hibiscus Beauty Pageant will be held from November 28 – December 8 at the Casino Royale Maho in Saint Martin.

 The Miss Caraïbes Hibiscus is an annual international beauty contest for all countries of the Caribbean and the Americas.

The winner  of the completion will away with ten thousand Us dollars ($10,00) in cash  and a chance to be an  ambassador for the Caribbean islands throughout her reigning year, travelling on promotional trips to the Caribbean, Europe, Africa and the USA



 

First runners up will receive two thousand dollars ($2,000) while second runners up will get 0ne thousand ($1,000) in cash.
