Melloquence Collaborates With Elephant Man On New Single ‘Hold Me’

014 looks very promising so far for rising dancehall star Melloquence who has been steadily paving his way in the industry with releases on some of dancehall’s more  popular rhythms  since last year, namely: JA Production’s “OverDrive Rhythm” and the Frastwinz Music  produced “Starizma Rhythm”. January saw the singjay  releasing a medley music video for his songs “Hot Suh/Starizma (Star life)” on the above mentioned projects and already he’s set to release yet another music video, this time for a collaboration effort with international dancehall super star Elephant Man entitled ‘Hold Me’.

‘Hold Me’, although not officially released as yet, has been enjoying  rotation on most of  the island’s major  radio stations including Zip 103 FM, Irie FM and Suncity FM etc. over the past few weeks and with the music video slated to be released this weekend  both artistes are confident this will propel the single to higher heights.

“From the get go wi know people would gravitate to this song especially the females that’s why we never even hesitate to shoot the video, ‘Hold Me’ is one of those songs that a DJ can play in a dance and get the females to ‘bruk out’ and at the same time it’s radio friendly and commercial enough to be played at a family event and buss the place, it’s just a ‘feel good’ song and right now the music needs that” Melloquence explained.

Elephant Man on the other hand thinks it’s refreshing  and credits this release as a strategic one, “Right now the girls dem need some songs like these, is a breath of fresh air, furthermore a carnival season now the girls dem want dance” He concurred.

The video was shot by Inna Wi Genes Filmz at the Board Walk Beach in Portmore and edited by Cashflow’s Extreme Arts and features cameos from some of dancehall’s top female dancers and video vixens including DHQ Nickiesha and Queen Latesha to name a few .

The single is produced by the European-based ‘Weedy G SoundForce’ label and will be distributed by VP Records.

Caribbean Night at BET Awards - Rihanna, Nicki Minaj and Electrifying Performances

The BET Awards was held last night at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, were singers Rihanna and Nicki Minaj were among the top winners.

Rihanna took home the prize for Best Female R&B Pop Artist, while Nicki Minaj won her fourth consecutive award for female hip-hop artist. Minaj also performed with Ciara and Chris Brown

The Island of Jamaica came alive when Dawn Penn, Chaka Demus & Pliers, Beenie Man and Elephant Man electrified the audience when they gave a colorful performance of reggae classics.

 

The BET Awards celebrate black musicians, actors and athletes. The program is televised on the cable TV network BET, Black Entertainment Television, part of Viacom Inc. The event was hosted by comedian Chris Tucker.

Elephant Man surprise performance at Sumfest , plus his $50,000 giveaway to a lucky fan

Elephant Man the “Energy God” will be performing at this year’s Reggae Sumfest on dancehall night, July 19 at the Catherine Hall Entertainment Complex, in Montego Bay. Along with performing Elephant will be doing a good deed, he will give away $50,000 to a lucky fan who can guess what is hair colour will be for the night.

 “Mi a giveaway $50,000 to anybody that can guess what colour hairstyle mi a wear go Sumfest. Anybody whe guess the hair colour wha me a go wear pon the stage a go get a 50 grand! Serious ting,”Elephant Man said.

Elephant Man also stated that his 20 minutes performance will be one of surprise . “Mi a go do a 20-minute set and all a di fan dem a go get a surprise. Mi cyaah tell unnuh what the surprise is right now but trus mi, mi a go shell it dung. Everybody gonna wanna know what the surprise is, but me nah give it away yet. I’m gonna be performing a lot of hits from the old catalogue to the new tunes,”

Reggae Sumfest 2012 will begin July 15 – 21 in Montego Bay and feature other acts such as International R&B stars Trey Songz and R. Kelly, Beenie Man, Bounty Killer, Lady Saw and many more...

Ninja Kid and Elephant Man energizes CVM Television Cross Country Tour

Armed with a plethora of new material 'Comeback Artiste Of The Year' aspirant Ninja Kid continues to deliver that venom required to entertain the dancehall masses.

One of the specially invited guest, Ninja Kid whose given name is Ojukwu Simpson along with Elephant Man on Saturday invaded Eastern and Central Jamaica, delivering high energy performances to the hundreds in attendance. The concerts are a part of the ongoing CVM Television Cross Country Tour to commemorate Jamaica's 50th Independence celebration later this year.  

The tour made its first stop in Port Antonio, Portland where it experienced some minor hiccups before heading into Ocho Rios, St. Ann to a huge welcome as Kid commanded attention with songs like: 'Have Nuh Gal Like We' and 'Menke' before introducing Elephant Man to further heighten the experience.

Other commendable performances came from Mr. Lexx and Aaron Silk, brother of deceased Reggae icon Garnet Silk.

"The experience was great and to see the fans come out in their numbers is a very fulfilling feeling__ I just want to extend a heartfelt thank you to CVM Television and Elephant Man for the opportunity" - a jovial Ninja Kid lamented.

This Friday, June 29th the 'Menke' singer is booked to perform at Guinness Club Hamma on the front lawn of Hotel Versalles, May Pen along with Darkcide International and DJ Toxic.

Elephant Man and Bounty Killer Luxury Vehicles to be auctioned off by TAj

The Tax Administration of Jamaica (TAJ) Department is set to auction the  luxury vehicles of  Dancehall entertainers Elephant Man and Bounty Killer.

Bounty Killer’s 1998 white Land Cruiser VX and his white 2006 Range Rover Sports HSE as well as Elephant Man’s red 2002 Mercedes Benz are being advertised for the second time after previously being put up last March, after they were seized for outstanding unpaid taxes.



According to TAJ’s Latoure Duhaney, both artistes must pay all taxes owed by today, Friday  February 17th , if either wants to recover their assets if not, the auction on their vehicles will commence.

Elephant Man arrested on Rape and Assault charges

Energy God Dancehall entertainer Elephant Man whose real name is Oneil Bryan,  has been charged with grievous sexual assault and rape, this according to Police report.

Reports are that female filed a report to the  police claiming that the artiste sexually assaulted her., at his St. Andrew home earlier this month.

Elephant Man was arrested Monday after detectives assigned to the Centre for the Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse conducted an intense investigation into the matter.


Elephant Man is booked to appear in court tomorrow, and also on February 7 for another case, where he allegedly using illegal wiring in attempt to steal electricity from the Jamaica Public Service (JPS).

Representatives from Elephant man's camp have  yet to make a statement.

Bramma Wows Forty Thousand Strong Zimbabweans!

Forty thousand patrons crammed into the Glamis Show Ground at Harare, Zimbabwe to see Elephant ‘Energy God’ Man in full flight on Friday June 24^th, 2011.  Dancehall recording artiste Bramma was invited along to perform at the event. When introduced, his explosive entry earned him huge forwards and cheers but what was most memorable for Bramma who was not only visiting Africa for the first time but  has never performed for such a huge crowd, was the fact that is his music is well known among the fans. 

Pleasantly surprised at this revelation Bramma said he was humbled by the audience interaction with him as they sang word for word, every line of his selections and more notably his current hit single, “Me Nuh Trus People.” Bramma admitted that the manner in which Dancehall fans in Zimbabwe react to the music is one to get use to as there were times when the huge crowd in their celebratory mood, throw missiles on stage, “De people dem a rail dem love it but at the same time dem fling water, liquor and just about any thing dem have, it crazy, just mad!” he explained. 

 Bramma said after his performace he was whisked away to his hotel because the crowd got a bit overly excited in an effort to greet him and while leaving the venue saw persons running behind the vehicle transporting him shouting, “Bramma, Bramma, Bramma.” 

While Bramma’s overall experience “was great!” The 24 year old said he had to make mention of the fact that he “has heard other artiste speak about receiving the kind of reception that far outweighs that which is given here at home from audiences such as the Zimbabweans but has never experienced it”.  Now that he has, “it is hard to not think about the times when the pressure got so intense here that I could not help thinking my work has not manifested enough to warrant any major acknowledgement”.  However his trip to Zimbabwe has proven otherwise and the valued lessons to be learned are, "believe in what you do and keep pushing because someone is listening and the importance of understanding the difference in culture between us, Jamaicans and the Reggae/Dancehall fans out there in wider world." For that, Bramma intends to further educate himself and look forward to another visit to the motherland in the near.

Elephant Man will be a no show at Kenya's Concert

"Energy God", Elephant Man  has confirmed that he will not be performing in Nairobi  Kenya this Easter. This news has left promoter of the concert to replace with Busy Signal.  It is reported that Ele decided to pulled out from the tour was that he will be also performing in the US around the same time. This was not confirmed by Elephant or any representative.

The concert schedule for April 23 Carnivore grounds will feature other Jamaican artistes such as Ding Dong and RDX.

Elephant man, asset seized by tax department

Elephant man’s who real name is O'Neil Bryan, is now in tax troublie with Inland Revenue Department, which has led to the seizing of his assets to settle million of dollars in unpaid taxes.


According to Meris Haughton, the director of communications at the tax department , the operation was conducted this morning with the enforcement team and the police travelling to several locations in search of assets belonging to Elephant Man.


 A red convertible Mercedes Benz vehicle belonging to Elephant Man was seized during the operation carried out by IRD's special enforcement team.

Meris Haughton explained that in cases where property is seized, delinquent taxpayers have 10 days to pay off their arrears or the confiscated asset would be auctioned. She said if the proceeds from the auction do not cover the debt, the taxpayer could face criminal or civil charges.

Q45 stated that , he would want to continue to  work with Elephant Man in the future and would still want  to record for him, as well. As for managing other artistes and young talent, Q45 said he's always up to doing music as long as the person has good talent.

Reggae Sumfest -dedicated to the memory of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson

This year`s `world greatest show case` of reggae music will be dedicated to the memory of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, Reggae Sumfest officials said this week.

With just days to go before Sumfest 2009 gets underway in Jamaica, Chairman Robert Russell, at the Montego Bay Launch of Reggae Sumfest at Pier 1 on June 30th, announced that this year's staging will be dedicated to the `greatest entertainer in the world.`

Jackson had actually visited and performed in Jamaica in 1975 as a member of the Jackson 5. The group was hosted then by former Prime Minister, Edward Seaga, at his home in Temple Meads, St Andrew. At the time, Seaga was opposition leader and head of the now ruling Jamaica Labor Party. The Jackson 5 was the opening act for Bob Marley and the Wailers at the outdoor National Stadium.

Russell said it is important that the top reggae show be dedicated to the top musical star, as the world continues to mourn the famed singer. Jackson passed away on Thursday, June 25th in Los Angeles after reportedly suffering a cardiac arrest. He was 50.

Caribbean fans have been among those joining millions around the world in mourning his sudden death.

The 17th annual Reggae Sumfest will get underway this July with the annual beach party at Cornwall Beach, featuring the sounds of many of Jamaica`s more popular local deejays including Errol Lee & the Bare Essentials, Cameal Davis, Khalil, Timeka Marshall, ZJ Ice, DJ Mix Master Marvin and Crazy Nei, backed by Danger Zone Super Strong.

But it is the Jagra Dancehall Night, July 23rd, that is sure to crank the heat of this resort haven up higher, as a slew of stars, including Beenie Man, Bounty Killer, Vybz Kartel, Mavado, Lady Saw, Elephant Man, Busy Signal, Spice, Kip Rich, Flippa Mafia and D`Angel take over the stage.

On Friday, July 24th, American R&B stars Ne-Yo and Jazmine Sullivan are set to bring some smooth vibes to the festival while Morgan Heritage, Jah Cure, Coco T and Queen Ifrica are sure to thrill the conscious reggae followers.

The curtains come down on Saturday, July 25th with performances from multi-Grammy-winning star, Toni Braxton, Nas, Damian `Jr Gong` Marley, Tarrus Riley, Etana and Da`Ville among others.

Executive Director of Summerfest Productions, Johnny Gourzong, says air and hotels are going fast but can still be accessed through the site along with tickets, at http://www.reggaesumfest.com/.

The Festival has devoted a section of its website to accommodation and fans can view a list of hotels in Montego Bay, as well as read short reviews and other information on the properties. Organizers say they will continue to add more properties as the deals are finalized.

Some of the hotel options available for patrons include the 5 star Fiesta Grand Palladium, which is a mere 25 minutes from the Sangster International Airport. This hotel boasts some 1,000 rooms, a fitness centre, a `club` for children, seven restaurants, and five swimming pools, and a spa.

Sponsors for the 2009 event include the Jamaica Tourist Board, Digicel, Air Jamaica, Jamrock Magazine, Ocean Spray, Jagra, Appleton, Carib Beer and Mackeson among others.

Reggae Sumfest brings in an estimated 5,000 visitors to the island, along with US$5 million in revenue to Jamaica, according to a survey done by the Jamaica Tourist Board. Reggae Sumfest is produced annually by Summerfest Productions
