Chedda & Blak Ryno Lends Support To UTECH Charities

Dancehall recording artiste Chedda and Blak Ryno have pledged their support to the University of Technology (UTECH) who will be hosting an event this week to aid two of the school’s charities.

The event, a celebrity auction set to unfold this Wednesday, November 9^th at the Students Activity Center (S.A.C) will feature the two entertainers among other performers. The event also encompasses a tag drive that has been an instrumental part of the fundraiser for the past 50 years.

According to President of the Students Union Jheanell Johnson; the proceeds are in aid of the Charities Jamaica Association for Intellectual Abilities and The Jamaica Department for Juvenile Correctional facilities.

“We are trying to raise over a million Jamaican dollars to support these charities” she explained.

Meanwhile, Chedda said he’s very pleased to be a part of such an undertaking intimating that, “anything that will assist our youths in a positive manner is something I’m always willing to lend my support to”. Similar sentiments were echoed by Blak Ryno.

Both entertainers are no strangers to UTECH as they recently performed at the school’s LIVE concert series held at the Green House facility.

Chedda Shoots 2 New Video & Releases 4 Singles

Coming on the heels of an energetic performance at UTECH, rising dancehall deejay and Darkcide International recording artiste Chedda known for the hits ‘Cleanest’ and ‘Fake Jeans Admit It’ has shot two new videos for the singles ‘Nuh Borrow’ and ‘Gal Dem A Bawl’, the latter produced by Darkcide in collaboration with Freeze Production.

‘Gal Dem A Bawl’ shot in the vicinity of Gordon Town is part of the Menke Riddim video medley while ‘Nuh Borrow’ (The Steppa Life Riddim) filmed in Half-Way Tree and Downtown Kingston is the deejay’s  fifth solo video.  Directed by the award winning Christopher Campbell of Iceyjace Film Factory both projects are slated for official debut later this month.

According to Chedda, “This is just another phase in the promotional campaign; The people have been showing these songs a lot of love so we decided to do videos to bolster the promotion. I just want to say respect and thanks to every radio jock , street selector and the fans for the support”

“Another of my tracks ‘Shell Di Bar’ is doing very well and later this month we plan to do another video for that as well. Right now for me it’s all about work because the industry is very competitive so as one of the new bloods in the business me have to go hard” – He added.

Meanwhile, with the festive season fast approaching, Chedda has released four new singles namely; ‘Shell Di Bar’, ‘Nuh Borrow’, ‘Gal Dem A Bawl’ and ‘See We A Road’ and is expected to bolster his presence with the release of several others in the weeks ahead courtesy of Notice Production, Upt 007 Records, PayDay Music Group  and Coppershot Music among others. All singles are currently available on iTunes and other digital platforms.

Chedda & Ryno Lends Support To Munga’s Back to School Treat

Dancehall artiste Chedda and Ryno last week lent their support to fellow entertainer Munga Honourable for the staging of his back to school treat in the Jackson Town Community.

The fun day, held on Wednesday August 31st at the Queensborough Football Field, saw activities including live entertainment, a talent competition, and tonnes of rides and attraction for children. Munga used the opportunity to hand out back-to-school supplies to members of the community.

Chedda, Ryno, Gyptian, Chi Ching Ching among others were on hand to provide entertainment, followed by photo opts and autograph signing session at the Digicel sponsored event.

"The children are the future and whatever we can do to assist in their positive development, we gonna do that" - said Chedda.

Similar sentiments were echoed by Ryno who is now preparing for an overseas stint. 

Other corporate sponsors included, Jamaica Beverages and Crazy Jim. Aside from the festivities Munga also provided an internship to his own Hilltop Records for the winner of the talent competition.

Chedda distances himself from the J.O.P camp & teams up with Future Fambo

Since the unfortunate incident involving Aidonia and popular radio jock ZJ Wah Wa surfaced, dancehall artiste Chedda has been receiving a lot of flack from fans and as such the entertainer in a move to clear his name has distanced himself from the camp and the incident.

"I am not a member of J.O.P, though I have a mutual respect for them. I am my own individual artiste and have been operating in that context since officially signing with my label Darkcide International. It's very unfortunate what occurred and hope that there can be an amicable resolve to the matter" - Chedda explained.

Chedda wants his fans and those of the JOP outfit to know he had no knowledge or part in the recent events.

"Violence is something that should never be condoned in any form and so I implore my fellow coworkers and the general public to explore other avenues to resolve their disputes." While wishing the zip jock a speedy recovery.

Only months ago Chedda released a single and video titled 'Bad Inna Song' on the Blackspdya Records label speaking out against violence in the music and against dancehall practitioners.

Meanwhile, on the musical forefront Chedda has teamed up with 2010 comeback artiste of the year Future Fambo for the remix of 'Shell Di Bar' on the African Robot Riddim. The project is a joint effort between Darkcide International and Unknown People Records (DJ Raffa & DJ Rodrick Howell of Hitz 92FM). A video is also expected to be shot in the weeks ahead for the very catchy drinkers anthem. Other projects include ‘See We A Road’ on ZJ Ice’s - Center Stage Riddim and Dip & Come Up on the Club Life Riddim.

Chedda is booked to appear at the RETV LIVE/ RJR sponsored Summer Heatwave series on August 27th in Portland.

Chedda To Premier New Video & Ready For Lakefest Reggae Festival.

After delivering a credible performance at ‘Hamma Fridaze – The Independence Edition’ alongside Tanto Blacks and Mr. G; Dancehall artiste Chedda is set to premier his new video for ‘Gyal Yuh A Pro’ in the days ahead. The video and single features New York based recording artiste Haskell.  

“This is one of the songs that has been doing well for me overseas especially in the urban markets, so we are expecting greater things with the added visuals.” - the Darkcide International recording artiste said in a release.

“There are plans for another video, but we haven’t decided on which song as yet” - he further stated.

Experiencing upward mobility in his career, Chedda whose given name is Tyrello Johnson recently teamed up with radio jock turn producer ZJ Ice for the fiery single ‘See We A Road’ on the newly released Centerstage Rhythm. 

Chedda noted that since the release of the song the response has been overwhelming and is very thankful for the support.   Another track which has been gaining attention is the Rodrick Howell (Hitz 92FM) produced ‘Shell Di Bar’on the soon-t-be-released African Robot Rhythm compilation.

Meanwhile, Sunday, August 14^th Chedda is booked to appear on Lakefest Reggae Festival in Colchester, Connecticut alongside Beres Hammond, Wayne Wonder, Anthony B and Etana among others.

Chedda Completes U.S. Stint & Shoots New Video in Connecticut

Darkcide Media recording artiste Chedda is now back in Jamaica, following his third promotional stint  in the United States which  encompassed sections of the New York Tri-state area, Bridgeport and Hartford in Connecticut.

The two week tour culminated with the shooting of a music video for his single ‘Gyal Yuh A Pro’ featuring U.S based dancehall artiste Haskell. The video was shot throughout the metropolis of New York and Connecticut with an intense club since at the very popular Club Azur in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

Currently on the chopping blocks the video is expected to be release in approximately two weeks.

Meanwhile, his video for the Cashflow Records produced ‘Worry Dem’ continues to steadily climb the chart on the Cari-Vibez TV Countdown sitting comfortably at the No.2 position.

Locally, Chedda whose given name is Tyrello Johnson is back in the studio working on a number of new projects and has released two new singles, ‘Shell Di Bar’ for radio jock turn producer Rodrick Howell (Hitz 92FM) and ‘Dip and Come Up’ on Blackspyda Records ‘Club Life Riddim’. Both of which, continues to enjoy favourable rotation on the FM airwaves.

Chedda Embarks On 3rd U.S. Promotional Tour

After making an appearance at last weekend’s successful staging of ‘Hamma Fridaze’ in Downtown, Kingston. Dancehall deejay Chedda on Sunday departed the island for the United States where is he expected to kick off his 3^rd promotional campaign commencing in Hartford, Connecticut this week.

The two week tour will also take him through the boroughs of the New York Tri-state area with stops at several prominent urban television and radio outlets to promote his new singles accompanied by the recently released  videos for ‘Bad Inna Song’ and ‘Worry Dem’, produced by Blackspyda Records and Cashflow Records respectively.

“A number of my songs are doing well overseas, not just in the U.S but also across the Caribbean, the feedback so far is great. So a tour like this is necessary to promote the music and give people a change to know the face behind the sound”.  – Chedda stated.

Chedda Prepares For New York

With the official start of summer fast approaching, dancehall artiste Chedda is now making final preparations for a week-long stint in New York City later this month. 

This, his third promotional campaign on the U.S. mainland, comes on the heels of recent appearances in sections of New York, Connecticut and Colorado late last year. With singles such as ‘Bad Inna Song’ and the newly released ‘Wine Yuh Waist’ on the Quick Fix Rhythm enjoying favourable rotation. Chedda is very upbeat about his upcoming trip.

“Several of my songs are doing very well overseas, not just in the U.S but also across the Caribbean, the feedback has been tremendous. So we are now taking things to that next level with this campaign”.  – Chedda said.

Aimed at bolstering his presence, the upcoming campaign will involve a number of appearances, radio and television interviews.

Meanwhile, his video for the Cashflow Records produced ‘Worry Dem’ has jumped seventeen (17) spots to No.3 on the CariVibez TV Video Countdown after making its official debut a month earlier. (see CariVibez Top 20 Chart) The CariVibez TV Top 20 Video countdown features the 20 most voted music videos from around the globe aired by the station.

:: Increased Rotation From Dancehall Controversy

Despite releasing his single 'Bad Inna Song' months ago, Chedda continues to enjoy increase rotation on the airwaves and party circuit with the grimy composition.

The single produced by Blackspyda Records seems to have found favour with a number of radio and street jocks, who attributes the song's relevance to the current exodus and revelations on the Gaza, coupled with the mounting tension from others camps.

Chedda was quick to point out that, "the song is not aimed at anyone or camp in particular but was recorded at a time in dancehall when a lot of selectors were being beaten. It's unfair because these are the very persons that play our music and help to make us into superstars. Dancehall music is about the people and social commentary; hence it was only right that as an artiste I step up and provide a voice and a forum for the selectors."

Since the release of the single, Chedda has also shot an accompanying video (watch video) directed by Christopher Campbell of Iceyjace Film Factory. The video has since premiered on several entertainment outlets including: Intense and Fiwi Choice (TVJ) , Hype-TV, RE-TV, Pree Dis (Flow TV) Krem TV in Belize and several digital platforms via the internet.

Chedda is booked to appear at the official launch of this summer's inaugural staging of 'Hamma Fridays' slated for June 17th in Downtown, Kingston.
