Miss Dominica Nadiro Lando is Miss Jaycees Caribbean Queen 2012

Miss Dominica Nadira Lando was crowned Miss Jaycees Caribbean Queen 2012 on Friday  night (Aug 3rd) which was held in Antigua. Lando having won the interview segment copped the coveted title based on the new judging system.

 This is the seventh win for Dominica since the competition started 51 years ago. Miss St Kitts & Nevis Kailah Huggins was first runner-up, while second runner-up went to St Lucia’s Roxanne Nicholas  

Nadira also won the best modeling sytle award in the Evening Wear segment, in which she wore a red dress with a dove tail flounced skirt and a translucent bodice decorated with sequins and rhinestones. Third place winner Roxanne Nicholas of St Lucia was awarded best Swimwear and best Talent Performance, by doing  contemporary dance to Michael Jackson song “Childhood”. Miss Anguilla Olufunmike Devonish won Miss Congeniality and Most Photogenic.

The preliminaries were held on August 1, when 10 of the 15 contestants made the finals. They were; Miss Jamaica, Miss Dominica, Miss St. Kitts-Nevis, Miss St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Miss St. Croix, Miss Trinidad and Tobago, Miss British Virgin Islands, Miss Anguilla, Miss Antigua & Barbuda and Miss St. Lucia

On the night competition the top five were chosen from the top 10, which include Trinidad and Tobago, St. Kitts, Dominica, St. Lucia and Antigua and Barbuda.

Miss Caribbean World 2012 is Miss Dominica, Nadira Lando

A new Miss Caribbean World was crown over the weekend and Miss Dominica, Nadira Lando, walked away with the title from a field of 17 beauties. The event was held at the Multipurpose Sports Complex in Tortola on Saturday May 5, 2012.

First runners- up went to  Abigail Hyndman Miss British Virgin Island, while Miss St Lucia Consuelo Dupal was Second runner-up . Alina Roberts Miss Cuba  and Miss Curacao Marvia Lawrence were third and fourth respectively.

The contestants competed in five segments - Swimwear, Costume, Talent, Evening Wear and Interview.

Nadira Lando also won awards for Miss Photogenic, Best Costume and Best Swimsuit. Best Intellect and Best Evening Wear  went to  Miss BVI Abygail Hydman and Miss Congeniality was awarded to  Miss Curacao Marvia Laurence. Miss United States Virgin Islands Temisha Libert won Best Talent while Miss Dominican Republic Suzan Castano copped Miss Poised.

Since the conception of this pageant Dominica has captured four of the six title where  Nakita Bruno  won the crown in 2006, Marah Walters in 2008 and Marcia Baptiste in 2010. Last year's winner was Sudeakka Francis of St. Kitts and Nevis
.
 In July Nadira will be competing in the Ms. Carival 2012 in St. Vincent and the Grenadines
