After more than a year, Mighty Crown "The Far East Rulers" and Irish and Chin will embark on an explosive World Tour starting in October 2009 to celebrate another major career milestone, a third Nike sneaker deal. The Irish and Chin produced tour, dubbed "'The Mighty Crown Dynasty World Tour," after the soon-to-be released sneaker, will feature three of Mighty Crown's five members: Masta Simon, Sami T and Ninja. The Crown Dynasty Tour will represent the first time that Sami T and Masta Simon have toured together in over three years.

The super sound Mighty Crown has once again collaborated with Nike to release the Dynasty High sneaker. The unique studded sneaker is an elite revamp of Nike's 1981 original Dynasty High. Blazoned with the Crown logo on the tongue, the sneaker is being released in conjunction with the Anniversary of Mighty Crown's Yokohama Reggae Festival (SAI) -- Japan's largest Reggae stage show. Mighty Crown members believe that this accolade serves as the perfect time to celebrate with a highly anticipated tour. Additionally, according to fans, it's time for Mighty Crown to hit the road again with their dancehall madness!Each of Crown's members has been pursuing successful endeavors recently, which has prevented them from touring together. Now, the Mighty Crown team is set to deliver over-the-top dancehall entertainment to their fans, who sometimes have just one opportunity a year to catch a glimpse of their favorite sound. With dates going quickly, the Crown Dynasty Tour is destined to be a hit. Mighty Crown is the most successful non-Jamaican dancehall sound system worldwide. 'Reggae Gold' Release

Reggae gold is a glittering slice of the Caribbean - a tropical soundscape representing the diversity of reggae music.

Mavado's So Special is a taste of the raw fruity end of the spectrum, complete with controversial lyrics.

While Serani's massive radio hit, Playing Games, and Etana & Alborosie's Blessings, demonstrates a sweeter drop of romance.

The compilation features music direct from the native sons and daughters of the Jamaican Island from where reggae hails. The Jamaican Tourist Board (JTB) and VP Records have partnered to re-create the iconic "Welcome to Jamaica" image for the album cover.

In cooperation with Jamaica Trade and Invest (JTI), JTB and Golden Krust Caribbean Bakery, VP Records will launch an extensive marketing campaign around the release of Reggae Gold 2009 that extends until the end of the year.

Since 1996 this compilation has featured the biggest songs of the year in reggae/dancehall but has also included music from international artists and crossover recording acts. Reggae Gold is renowned for featuring reggae and dancehall hits, this year, includes Elephant Man's Nuh Linga - another Jamaican dance craze you're likely to see Usain Bolt do, as well as tracks from up and coming artistes, which on this offering include Laden, Jah Vinci and Prodigal Son. ’Family matters’ postpone Akon concert

SINGER Akon’s concert, scheduled for tomorrow, has been postponed to Oct 24. The postponement is not because of its conflicting sponsorship, as reported recently by an English daily.

According to the paper, the decision was made as the concert’s main sponsor, a well-known liquor brand, was seen as inappropriate as the sponsor for the Muslim hip-hop artiste’s concert.On Monday, the concert’s organiser, Marctensia of the Akon Freedom Beach Concert 09, issued an official statement.“His manager Mateo called us on Sunday morning to say that Akon decided to postpone both his concerts in Kuala Lumpur and Manila (on Saturday) due to family matters,” said Marctensia marketing and communications head Michael Chan.

The concert’s venue, scheduled to be at Surf @ Sunway Lagoon, will remain unchanged.On the report by the English daily, Chan said that no one called him or anyone else from his company for any clarification.“We have even received the letter of approval from the Central Agency for the Filming and Performance by Foreign Artistes,” he said with regards to the claim made by the paper.

The liquor brand will still continue its sponsorship for the singer’s concert in October as confirmed by its representative, TBWA Malaysia public relations manager Eric Lim.

The Senegal singer, who suffered a massive backlash due to his inappropriate conduct with an underaged member of the audience during his performance in a club in Trinidad and Tobago, appeared in a 20-second video during the press conference apologising to his Malaysian fans.“I am sorry for the postponement. One thing is for sure, I will be coming on Oct 24 to entertain you,” said Akon in the clip.Current tickets are still valid for the October concert.

Tickets can also be refunded from July 6 to 18 at Axcess Office, 1st Floor, Block A, Lot 116, Jalan Semangat, Petaling Jaya.

Jr. Gong Marley & Nas Will Perform Together at Sumfest

On Saturday, July 25, both reggae royalty Damian ‘Jr. Gong’ Marley and rap luminary Nas perform together at Reggae Sumfest, in Montego Bay, Jamaica.

It's not a Nas performance, and it’s not a Damian Marley performance. It’s going to be a Nas and Damian Marley collaboration, specially for Reggae Sumfest,” said Johnny Gourzong, Executive Director of Summerfest Productions.Gourzong said that this popular pairing was the result of extensive thought by the Reggae Sumfest team, as to how to make this year’s event memorable. He emphasized that this is the first time that Nas will be performing in Jamaica, and added that it “Will be an even more special performance since he will be performing with one of our brightest stars in Reggae music, a son of the great Robert Nesta Marley. What better debut in Jamaica then on the stage of Reggae Sumfest?"

“While Damian Marley has wowed the Sumfest crowd in previous years, seeing him perform with Nas will be interesting. They are working on a collaborative album, and the sounds of reggae juxtaposed with hip-hop beats should make for a spectacular performance,” said Brittany Somerset, Stage Photographer for Reggae Sumfest. The Festival starts with a beach party on Sunday, July 19 and then has three nights of live performances from Thursday July 23 to Saturday July 25. The festival goes on overnight, because the daytime sun is too hot in Jamaica.

Sumfest will also feature Ne-Yo, Queen Ifrica, Tarrus Riley, Mavado, Busy Signal, Bounty Killer, Etana, Da’Ville, Vybz Kartel, Beenie Man, Morgan Heritage, and many more. Other confirmed international female R&B artists for the Reggae Sumfest stage will be Jazmine Sullivan, Keri Hilson and Toni Braxton.“We are arranging for additional international performers, but we’re not ready to release who we’re considering. You’ll just have to wait a little longer.” Gourzong teased.

“Sumfest is notorious for adding on high-profile artists at the last minute; a marketing strategy that always raises the level of anticipation throughout the Summer,” said Somerset. "It is the premiere event in Jamaica and attracts thousands of music lovers worldwide."

Ce’Cile’s "Hot Like We" single has knocked Latin superstar Pitbull’s Room Service from the number one spot on Germany’s Black Singles chart.

Checks made by this column have indicated that Ce’Cile the first Jamaican entertainer to reach the number one spot on that chart. Over the past few months, a handful of Jamaican acts have registered singles on Germany’s Black Singles chart. They include Serani with "No Games"; Mavado with I’m So Special; Sean Kingston with Fire Burning; and Busy Signal and Marcia Griffiths’ combination single Automatic.

"Hot Like We" which was remixed by Kingstone Records/Groove Attack, has spurred interest from pop radio stations across Germany. The song has been showing up on several playlists and it could possibly make its way onto the main pop charts in Germany.
