Star-studded Line-Up for Demarco’s Birthday Celebration

Writer : Caribbean E-Magazine on Monday, September 22, 2014 | 7:39 PM

Monday, September 22, 2014

C
ome Saturday, September 27th the Lime Light Entertainment Complex in Half Way Tree will be transformed with a kaleidoscope of activities as Dancehall star Demarco unveils his inaugural birthday celebrations hosted by True Gift Entertaiment (TGE).

Aptly titled ‘GOOD BOOK’, the event coined from his current chart topper will feature some of the biggest names in the local entertainment space, including a plethora of surprise performers bolstered by musical selections courtesy of in-demand jocks ZJ Liquid, Richie Feelings, Boom Boom & Harry Hype, Foota Hype, CD Fantasy Sound, Hotta Maestro and Demarco’s own official dj Slaughta Global from the popular U.S based Half Crazy Sound out of Boston.

According to event organizers one of the major highlights of the night will be a female dance contest for the now viral ladies anthem ‘Puppy Tail’ where the top three contestants will collectively walk away with almost One Hundred Thousands ($100,000) in cash and prices on the night.

Currently enjoying one of the best years of his career Demarco says he’ll be giving patrons a reprieve due to the current back to school challenges by offering a subsidized cost at the gate. Women will be charged $500 in a 2 for 1 deal while men will pay a nominal five hundred ($500) Jamaican dollars to gain admission.

“There will be a lot of excitement and surprises on the night so patrons should come out to enjoy themselves and see what we have in store for them. I don’t want to say too much, but I promise it will be a memorable occasion for all in attendance.” – Demarco added

Meanwhile, with an upsurge in popularity and an amassment of current hits such as ‘Good Book’ ‘Bad Gyal Anthem’, ‘Put The Duppy Pon Yuh’, ‘Build A Vibes’, ‘Lazy Body’ and ‘Ride’ Demarco is prepping for a busy schedule over the upcoming Heroes Weekend. The singer recently returned from Suriname and French Guiana amid shooting the second season of his now popular online series ‘Talk Yuh Mind’ which is available via his official Youtube channel at Youtube.com/Demarcolife.

Demarco Invades The French Caribbean & Soars With ‘Good Book’

Writer : Caribbean E-Magazine on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 | 8:43 PM

Wednesday, June 11, 2014

F

resh from his musical exploits at May Fest 2014, Grand Cayman and the holy land of Israel, where he delivered a pair of concerts in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, red hot deejay Demarco has once again taken flight this time for the French Caribbean nation of Martinique to headline their annual carnival celebrations this weekend.

No stranger to the French speaking island perched in the Lesser Antilles the blonde-hair singer says he is not intimated by the language barrier as he has grown accustomed to performing for diverse audiences across the globe.

“I’m not intimidated in the least by the language barrier, actually I embrace it , I’ve found in my travels that people who speak a different tongue are sometimes some of the most loyal and passionate fans an artiste can have. They always support your concerts and know the words to your song(s) though they may not necessarily understand the meaning. Music has no boundaries so why should I limit myself.” – Demarco added.

Following his stint in Martinique the ‘Fren Circle’ singer and his team will shift focus to a second assignment in Antigua before returning to the island later this week to continue work on his online reality series ‘Talk Yuh Mind’.

Riding high locally with hits such as Apartment,Loyal, Ride, Lazy Body and Continue Whine Demarco only days ago rolled out the official campaign for his latest street banger ‘Good Book’ which has become a staple on  the playlist of most top tier jocks.

The Zj Liquid (H2o Records) produced single has been causing quite a stir on the airwaves and party circuit amid threatening the apex of the popular charts. Based on feedback from industry players the song is destined to become the next bonafide hit for the Jamaican. An official video was also released to rave reviews via his Youtube channel (youtube.com/demarcolife).

Demarco Breaks New Ground For Dancehall in Tel Aviv, Israel

Writer : Caribbean E-Magazine on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 | 12:37 PM

Wednesday, April 16, 2014

E
ver since his emergence on the Jamaican scene seven years ago, musical chameleon Demarco has been a trendsetting entertainer and continues to break new ground for the Reggae/Dancehall genre. From being the first Dancehall act to perform in Ethiopia, the first to grace the cover of an Arabian magazine (Infuzion), the first to be nominated for ‘Song of The Year’ in Australia 2013 (Party Time feat. Samini) among a plethora of other accolades.

As 2014 unfolds the trend continues, come mid-May the blonde-hair singer is expected to invade the central-west Mediterranean coast for a pair of shows in Tel Aviv, Israel another first for the artiste. This performance comes on the heels of his recent concerts in Dubai and South Africa to a combined audience of over 120,000 patrons.

When asked about the broad appeal of his music and what fans of the predominantly Arabic & Jewish country can expect the multifarious singer explained,

“They can expect an amazing show, I don’t perform, I entertain hence it will be nothing short of spectacular. I can’t speak for others but beyond the shows of Jamaica I am an ambassador for our music, therefore I always try to leave a lasting impact anywhere I traverse.”

Demarco says he is not intimidated by the language barrier because music is one of the few artistic expressions that are universal, it transcends all social barriers, be it class, colour, creed or geographic.

Meanwhile, with a full roster of activities for the Easter season Demarco is currently immersed in the studio working on material for his upcoming album amidst shooting his new online reality series dubbed ‘Talk Yuh Mind’.

Alluding to the album and the lengthy timeline Demarco says he wants to veer from the norm, but still provide an offering that fans and the wider populous will musically appreciate. The album will adopt an Alternative/Reggae format.

Barrington Levy Blasting the Lastest X-rated Trend in Dancehall Music

Writer : Caribbean E-Magazine on Friday, March 14, 2014 | 10:42 AM

Friday, March 14, 2014

L

egendary Reggae singer Barrington Levy is speaking out against the increase in hardcore sexual content in the dancehall music today. Entertainers such Ricky Carty, Demarco, Alkaline, and J Amsterdam have been pushing the limits with eyebrow-raising materials and videos.

Barrington Levy says he is tired of the X-rated nature that the genre has taken on and thinks it has damaged its credibility.

In an interview published in the Jamaica Observer on Tuesday, Levy said, "I see where the music business is taking a turn for the worst. It's going in a direction where we are losing it."

"These people have no morals anymore. Are we going to do anything for money? I never came into the music business just to sell records. I thought I would just sing for the love of it."

Meanwhile, Levy is set to release a new acoustic album with variations of his biggest hits. He is currently promoting his new hit single, Rosie.

Do you think Dancehall music is getting raunchier and more hardcore?

D
emarco was in superb form recently at a concert on the premises of Twickenham Park Police Training Academy in St. Catherine. The entertainer was the specially invited guest of several high profile members of the Constabulary Force who were hosting a gathering for its members and new recruits.

Hitting the stage with the street anthem ‘True Friend’ Demarco was greeted with much fanfare as patrons showed strong support in their numbers with many rushing on stage to get closer to the blonde-haired star. Reeling off classics such as Duppy Know Who Fi Frighten, Standing Soldier, Sort Dem Out, Fallen Soldier interspersed with new favouritesLazy Body, Fren Circle and the highly controversial Ride, Demarco had the crowd in frenzy during his twenty minutes set before closing out the performance with the very inspirational I Love My Life.

According to Demarco despite the precarious relations shared at time between the Dancehall fraternity and the Constabulary force, “everyone loves music! Therefore, as an entertainer my job is to entertain. They reached out to my management team requesting support and we obliged. In my view anything that’s going to help foster good relations between the people and the security forces I’m all for that.”

Following the performance and a series of photo opts Demarco personally thanks members of the organizing committee and challenged the new recruits to be equitable in the execution of their duties.

Now in the U.S working on his upcoming album and other professional engagements the multifarious singer is featured in the latest edition of Canada’s Boss Magazine, where readers are given an insight into his rise to stardom. Dancehall superstar Demarco Invades Australia & Costa Rica

Writer : Caribbean E-Magazine on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 | 10:37 AM

Tuesday, September 10, 2013

Currently in Australia on a six city tour of that continent, international Dancehall superstar Demarco was nothing short of superb last weekend when he pulled out thousands of Spanish speaking fans in Costa Rica for a pair of concerts dubbed the ‘Black Carpet’.

Hosted in the Afro-Caribbean community of Limon the first staging saw a large influx of over 7,000 patrons filing in to show their support for the Jamaican. Less than thirty minutes into the show the venue was filled to capacity forcing the promoters to close the gates. The city’s emergency services we also placed on high alert, thankfully there were no incidents. After rocking the sweat drenched audience, Demarco took time out to greet many whom never got the opportunity to see the performance.

On Sunday the focus shifted to San Jose for the second staging at Club Vertigo the line-up this time featured local stars: Banton, Toledo, Ghetto and Slam Jam. Arriving at minutes to midnight amidst screaming fans inside a venue bursting at the seams. Demarco kicked off his performance with classics such as: ‘Duppy’, ‘Fallen Soldier’, ‘True Friends’ and ‘I Love My Life’  , the singer’s security detailing was kept busy all night as they worked tirelessly to repel the intermittent hordes of female invading the stage.

Demarco intimated it was very gratifying to see how his fan base had grown exponentially in the Central American country since his inaugural visit in 2008.

“I expected a good crowd but what I witnessed was amazing. When you see thousands of persons who don’t even speak the same language as you coming out to support your concert it confirms that you are doing something right… Right now Costa Rica is one of my favourite places to perform. But of course there is nowhere in the world like Jamaica..”

Currently soaring the charts globally with hits such as ‘Money’, ‘Lazy Body’ and ‘Apartment’, Demarco last Friday scored his 15th No.1 on the Hype TV Top 20 Video Chart with ‘Continue Whine’. The blonde-haired singer is expected to return of the island mid-September in preparation for his upcoming Birthday celebrations before jetting off to the Southwest Pacific French Colony of New Caledonia.

Demarco Makes Headlines In Africa & Set To Launch New School Initiative in Jamaica

Writer : Caribbean E-Magazine on Thursday, June 6, 2013 | 10:19 AM

Thursday, June 6, 2013

Following closely on his historical feat of becoming the first Dancehall/Reggae act to grace the cover of an Arabian magazine, Jamaican superstar Demarco is once again in the international spotlight.

The multi-talented entertainer is featured in a two page spread of ‘PULSE; one of Africa’s most popular and respected tabloids. While in Dubai, the Kenyan based publication sat down with Demarco to quiz him on a plethora of subject matters including his upcoming album and concomitant rise to international stardom. The thirty minutes interview culminated with what fans can expect upon his return to the motherland.  To which a very jocund Demarco responded, “an eclectic performance unlike none other the continent has seen!”

According to the tabloid, Kenyans are in high spirits with bountiful adulations for the singer who arrived in Nairobi on Monday, June 3rd ahead of his inaugural performance at the Carnivore Grounds this weekend. The ‘Continue Whine’ crooner will also be making three additional stops in Zimbabwe, Tanzania and Guinea later this month.

Upon his return to Jamaica, Demarco is expected to launch a new educational initiative that targets students of all ages, predominantly in the inner-city communities. The campaign seeks to render well needed assistance to qualified candidates to offset academic expenses and guide them in attaining their life-long goals and aspirations.
