Caymanian Treveen Stewart Becomes the First Caribbean Next Top Model Winner

On Monday (May 2th) Treveen Stewart was crowned the first Caribbean Next Top Model winner.


The competition started with 23 beauties from across the region vying for the coveted title, which was later narrowed down to 11. In the end 2 hopefuls made it to the finale; Stephany Francisca – the leggy beauty from Curaçao and Treveen Stewart - the Caymanian who dreams of being a supermodel. In the end Treveen prove she had what it takes to be on top.


As part of her prize package, Treveen received:

·        A $50,000 spokesperson contract with B Mobile

·        A modeling contract with Factor Women

·        The cover and a spread in the Caribbean Belle magazine


Stewart expressed her gratitude for the show and her supporters on Facebook Wednesday afternoon.

“Thank you all for your love and endless support throughout my journey. It’s been a long rough road but I’m grateful for those who believed in me and encouraged me every step of the way. We took it home Cayman!!! So relieved that I can now say out loud and proud, I am Caribbean’s Next Top Model!!! Love You All!!”

Miss Teen Cayman 2012/2013 is Nordania Stewart

On Saturday night at the Lions Centre, 17 year old Nordania Stewart, of George Town, was crowned Miss Teen Cayman 2012/2013.

Nordania also capped the Best Smile, and Community Excellence and Academic Excellence, awards.

Her platform was “to promote the volunteerism of our island's youth" as she is passionate about community service. As the winner she will continue share this passion with others throughout her reign. She also receive a trophy plus a professional photo session with a reputable photographer

First runner-up went to Glennique Bodden, who also won the People’s Choice Award and Best In Gown. Second runner-up was Alexander Anglin who was also awarded the titles of Most Talented and Best Legs.
 
Shemika Ebanks-Gooding won Miss Personality award, Most Improved went to Alyssa West  and Kelsie Woodman-Bodden captured  Miss Photogenic.

Twelve gorgeous young lady will compete for this year's Miss Teen Cayman Island 2012 -2013 at the at the Lions Centre, on September 1st, under the “Enchanting Wonderland”

The winner will receive a scholarship and have the opportunity to work closely with the community platform of their choice. She will also receive a trophy plus a professional photo session with a reputable photographer

The Miss Teen pageant is an opportunity for young women to grow and learn the importance of becoming a positive role model for the youth of the Cayman Islands.

John Legend to perform in the Cayman Islands

Grammy Award winner John Legend will be performing live in the Cayman Islands for two nights

On Thursday night February 2, the Abacus Restaurant, Paseo at Camana Bay Cayman Island will host an exclusive cocktail party and auction, featuring  International R& B singer John Legend.


Proceeds  from the benefit entitled "Lifted"  will go NCVO and its youth-focused programming. Tickets for the event are $150 , which starts at 7 pm.


Legend will also perform on Friday night at the Live Lounge, Camana Bay, alongside  Bobby V and other local artists
.
"I'm looking forward to the first ever Live Lounge and to performing in the Cayman Islands," Legend said in a video posted to his Facebook fan page.

Fashion Designer Francis Hendy "Spring Summer 2012 collection" at Cayman Islands Fashion

Trinidad-born, Francis Hendy, celebrity Fashion Designer , will be showing his exquisite menswear collection at the second Cayman Islands Fashion Solstice, scheduled for Grand Cayman on Saturday, Oct. 22.


After a seven (7) year hiatus appearance at the New York Fashion Week , the  designer showcased his Spring Summer 2012 collection at the Mercedes Benz Fashion event, at Time Warner Center, on September 8.

The  designer  known for his  array of  bold colors and prints vintage,but yet modern take on menswear has made him favorite among fashion stylists and celebrities including Beyonce, Jay-Z, Rhianna and the Black Eyed Pea.


For Spring 2012 Francis Hendy is inspired by the lush tropical ambiance and the vibrant style of the Caribbean which he enjoyed on a recent visit. “My trip to Tobago was a rejuvenating experience, the beauty of nature and the simplicity of island life and my collection reflects that energy and style” stated Francis Hendy.

Lindsay Japal crowned Miss Cayman Islands 2011-12

23 year old Lindsay Japal was on Saturday night crowned Miss Cayman Islands 2011-12,  at the Lions Centre . Linday will represents  Cayman Islands in both  Miss World 2011 pageant to held on November 6 in London and Miss Universe next year.

Linsday was chosen from amongst 10 beautiful young ladies, where she also won sectional awards  for Best Smile and the Best In Gown.




First runner up was Janelle Muttoo, while Crystal Tomlinson, won second runner's up.



 Alyssa Christian, won our  "People's Choice" winner based on the  poll on our website, getting over 44% of the votes.

Miss Cayman Islands 2011/2012 Contestants

The Miss Cayman Islands 2011/2012 Pageant will be held on September 25, 2011, where the winner will represent Cayman Islands in both Miss World  Pageant and Miss Universe  Pageant. The event will takes place on September 24th at  the Lion's Center





This year’s contestants are :

Janelle Muttoo












Alyssa Christian














Jera Ebanks, graduated Wesleyan Christian Academy with honors, The 22 years old is pursuing a Bachelors in Business Management Degree at the University College of the Cayman Islands.










Jadine Swanson














Crystal Tomlinson, is a 23 year old graduate from Coastal Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a focus in Marketing.


She enjoys traveling, cooking and eating good food, shopping, Weekends in the Kai, Fitness, Being Outdoors, Surfing, Boating, Snowboarding, Wakeboarding, and of course Miller BBQ's under the almond tree in Old Man Bay.






Lindsay Japal, 23 year old beauty from George Town.  She graduated with  honors from John Gray High School, and went on to obtained an Associates degree in Business Administration from the University College of the Cayman Islands.

She is presently working towards a Bachelors degree in Finance with a Minor in Marketing from the same institution,







Hettie Ann Dunbar











Samantha Widmer, earned her undergraduate degree majoring in Accounting at Elon University in North Carolina. She hopes to be a Certified Public Accountant

Samantha is the title holder for Miss Earth Cayman Islands 2010-2011

Cassianne Lawrence, is a 21 year old, who was the "Model of the year " in 2009


Cassianne is a goal oriented individual whom strives to be the best she can at everything she does.

Brooke Parchment is the newly crowned Miss Teen Cayman 2011 – 2012

The 33rd annual Miss Teen Cayman Islands pageant was held on Saturday August 27th at the Lion’s Center of Grand Cayman, and 15 year Brooke Parchment walked away with the crown, from a filed of  six contestants.

Brooke a final year student of the St. Ignatius High School and hopes one day to become a corporate lawyer, also won the title for Miss Personality, Most Talented, Best In Gown which was also tied with fellow contestant Mandy Wilkinson.

Her platform which is to focus on reducing the amount of bullying amongst teenagers especially young ladies, and she will represent the Cayman Islands in several international Miss Teen awards..

First runner's up went to Mariah Tibbetts, who was voted the People’s Choice Award,  and also won the Academic of Excellence Award, the  Iliana De La Cruz Community Spirit Award and Best Legs.

Juliana Wood was the second runner-up and won the sectional titles for Miss Photogenic, Best Smile and Best Legs, which were shared with  two other contestants (Mariah Tibbetts and Nicole Martin).

Other sectional winner was Nicole Martin  for Most Improved , while the remaining contestant was Kayla Solomon.


In our online polls , Brooke Parchment was our "People's Choice Winner"


A statement was later release by the Miss Teen Cayman Islands Chairperson 2011-2012, Leo Jamie Rogers 

"This past weekend marked the culmination of months of hard work and dedication on the part of every individual involved in the process which made the night of Saturday, August 27th 2011 a great success.  As chairperson for this years pageant, I am extremely proud to have been given this opportunity and I take great pride in the crowning of our 33rd Miss Teen Cayman Islands.

This amazing night could not have been possible with out the unwavering support of my fellow Miss Teen Committee members, who have seen the contestants through their events, appearances and preparations along the way, the Leo's Club of Grand Cayman which stood alongside the committee, and the Lion's Club of Grand Cayman, providing guidance and support wherever and whenever necessary.  As for the judges and talliers who were charged with the imperative task of deciding this years winners a special thank you to you all. 

Also, LIME, Cayman Airways, Ramada Grand Caymanian and all other sponsors who's generous contributions and support all made the night possible.  Without question, I would also like to thank the local community who was out in full force, without you, the Lions Community Centre would not have been filled with such energy and life, your support of the pageant and its contestants was truly remarkable. 

Lastly, I would like to thank each contestant for their commitment, and determination in preparation for and execution of this years Miss Teen pageant.  I have watched each of these young ladies grown in their own special way and words cannot express how proud I am to have been there for each of them, every step of the way."
