Women tend to believe that
their partners should listen to them like their girlfriends do, but this is not
the case. Not because men don’t want to, but
because they respond to different cues than women are programmed to provide.
The reasons why men don’t listen
1: You expect him to
agree with you.
2: You get
bogged down in the details.
Men are more interested in getting to the point, so do not spend time trying to give details of what you are going through
You might be five minutes into a story
before you ask him a relevant question. For some men, that’s too long.Men are more interested in getting to the point, so do not spend time trying to give details of what you are going through
3:
You’re trying too hard to impress him.
A guy doesn’t want to have
to compete with you too, so don’t woo them with your accomplishments. Men need
to feel like they’re providing. Therefore, they are not going to be listening
if we talk about the stuff you do.
4: He’s doing
something else.
When a man is in his “me time”, such as watching the game or trying to finish an email, don’t start talking.
Men are not good at verbal
multitasking as women are – and there are times when he wants to keep his
mental focus on something else. Make
sure he’s ready to listen before you start talkingWhen a man is in his “me time”, such as watching the game or trying to finish an email, don’t start talking.
5:
You forget to use your “pause” button
While men view conversation as a means
to an end, some women (not all) just like to talk, and can go on and on without
pausing. In this scenario a man will just shout down.
6: Your emotions
are running high.
Don’t go venting about problems with your girlfriends with your guy; this is a very scary situation for him, as he doesn’t know how to solve the problem. He doesn’t know how to calm you down or give you advice. He can barely even follow your train of thought

7:
You expect him to be interested in everything you’re interested in
He’s into beer, football and
basketball. You’re rambling on about wine,
"Housewives of Atlanta" and Rihanna. He yawns and doesn’t bother to
suppress it.
8:
He can’t keep up
You started out on one
subject matter, and then you switch to another then another and so on. Along
the way, you’ve lost your guy. For him, it’s like tracking a mouse in a maze –
unnerving and exhausting.
Men’s brains tend to be single-focused; therefore almost everything is an interruption

9: He feels like
he’s being nagged.
You don’t think of yourself as a broken record. But when your guy keeps leaving the toilet seat down and you remind each time to close it, he feels like you are nagging him.

Remember men and women are from different planets
