Over the weekend, seven of the ten contestants that will compete in the upcoming Miss Body Beautiful TCI Pageant attended a workshop on personal growth and acceptance of self.

The workshop –“The Ultimate you. Living to love yourself’, was conducted by Mrs Tremmaine Swann-Harvey. An attorney by profession, but with a background in television journalism and public speaking, Mrs Swann-Harvey opened by informing the ladies that the most important relationship that they can have is with themselves and that if they don’t have a strong sense of self, that they could be easily influenced.

“Many people waste their lives unhappy with themselves. We only have one life to live. We are promised three score and 10, but many do no make it there. It would be a complete waste of your life to be unhappy with yourself and try to live someone else’s life or wish you were someone else or had what someone else had. Its wasted time. You don’t get a do over. This is a one-time opportunity; use it wisely. You have to begin to love yourself now!” she admonished.

The proprietor of Tremm Jocale, who has have various leadership roles with the Rotaract Club of Providenciales, Tremmaine noted that if ever they were to think of themselves as ‘ugly’ to remember that: “Ugly means ‘you gotta love yourself.’ And to love yourself, you must first accept yourselves exactly the way you are.”

On the road to self acceptance – Mrs Swann-Harvey challenged the contestants to: be self confident, forgive oneself, take care of oneself, focus on strengths and not weaknesses, watch one’s self dialogue (inner voice), watch how you define your self worth, be grateful and appreciative for what you do have.

“Keep thinking positively, no matter what. Focus on the good, the positive, and push the negative from your mind,” said Mrs Swann-Harvey, adding” “Loving yourself is not being braggadocios, attention seeking or becoming selfish. There is such a thing as quiet confidence. Take the time and truly appreciate who you are as a person, find value in you and others will too.”
