After an eventful 2011, Darkcide International selector and popular radio jock ZJ Wahwa was last week given the nod of approval by the Jamaica Star, (one of the island's leading newspaper) with a nomination for 'Sound/Selector Of The Year'. Other contenders in the category includes: station-mate ZJ Chrome, Fame-FM's DJ Nicco, Chris Dymond and Coppershot Disco.
Despite being introduced to the Zip FM airwaves only a year ago, ZJ Wahwa has been making steady in-rows within the various diasporas, garnering a large following while securing a number of high profile assignments.
According to Wahwa, "Its an good look to get nominated for such an accolade", while extending an heartfelt thank you to the media outlet for the recognition. "It would be nice to win but that’s solely up to the voting public, nonetheless its shows that your efforts throughout the year are appreciated."
Meanwhile, surrounding a plethora of controversy late last year, the zipjock under the tutelage of Darkcide International released his much anticipated mix cd titled 'The Chronicles of ZJ Wahwa: Chapter One: Deception' earning an impressive 10,000+ download within the first two weeks. He has also dabbled into recording achieving his first hit single, a collaborative effort with established entertainer Ninja Kid titled ‘Menke’ for which a medley video was also released.
