Dancehall couple Ishawna and Foota Hype call It Quits

early a year ago, congratulations were pouring for dancehall couple Ishawna and Foota Hype, who got engaged last April during a party at O’Neil’s Place in Kingston, but now the singer says their relationship has ended.

Ishawna herself confirmed the news on Friday, telling the Jamaica STAR they were no longer an item, though she did not confirm the reason behind the break-up.

"It's done, I am just doing me," she said

"We have to deal with each other regardless 'cause we work together. There is no bad vibe or anything, but because of personal issues, we call it quits. Sometimes, that's just how it is in life, nobody knows the answer."

Ishawna and Foota Hype Engagement

Ishawna and Foota Hype started dating in 2005 and have been working alongside each other since the beginning, with Ishawna recording several songs for Foota Hype’s music label, Foota Hype Music.

Despite the split, both musicians have remained amicable and are nevertheless still working together since they are signed to Downsound Records. The couple also shares a son.

"We still have to work together because we are still signed to Downsound Records,” she said. “No animosity or anything, we had such a public relationship, so we have to let the people know that we are no longer attached in that way. I am not gonna say I hate him 'cause I don't. It's not working right now, and I just want to focus on my career.”

“It's just one of those things,” she continued. “I don't know what the future holds. At this moment, we both understand that this is not working. At the end of the day, I still have love for him.”

The two have been together since 2005 and have been working alongside each other since the beginning, with Ishawna recording several songs for Foota Hype’s music label, Foota Hype Music.

This break-up news comes nearly a month following  reports that Dancehall star, Daniel ‘Chino’ McGregor and former Miss Jamaica Universe, Yendi Phillipps broke up, though neither party has confirmed or denied said report since it came out on February 14th.

It's a Girl for Yendi Phillips and Chino

Former Miss Jamaica World/Universe Yendi Phillips and Entertainer Daniel “Chino” McGregor welcomed a baby girl this past Friday (Sept 21).

 

The bouncing baby girl whose name has yet to be released was weighted 7lbs, 11 ounces at the time of birth. This is the first child for Yendi and the second for Chino

 

Sources have revealed that the couple are ecstatic about the birth of their new born who is in great health.

 

It is also rumoured that the couple is engaged  will be tying the next year, after Yendi was spotted wearing a  ring while appearing at her weekly co-hosting gig on Television Jamaica’s (TVJ)

Yendi Phillips at 17 weeks pregnant

Jamaican Beauty Queen Yendi Phillipps announced via Facebook,that is pregnant with her first child with dancehall artiste Daniel 'Chino' McGregor. Rumors were circulating that the two were dating, but neither confirmed the relationship. 

This would be the first child for Yendi and  the second for McGregor who already has a three-year-old daughter from a previous relationship. According to the Former Miss Jamaica World/Universe she is 17 weeks pregnant

17 weeks and counting...I wish we could have shared it earlier but you know they say it's bad luck to announce too soon. I'm so excited to finally tell you that we have a little 'McGregor' on the way! You know how much I value "you" as you've been such a support through my various ventures so I wanted you to know first-hand as this one is perhaps my most exciting to date! I feel truly blessed and am more amazed everyday to experience our creator in such a miraculous and organic way. Seasoned mommy's, don't hold back on the advice...hehe *wink* Love, Blessings...and Life :)

Lauryn Hill arrived in Jamaica for Shaggy and Friends Charity Concert

Former member of the Fugees singer  Lauryn Hill  is now in Jamaica gearing up for her upcoming performance for the Shaggy and Friends Charity Concert set for January 7.

The singer who is no stranger to Jamaica arrived on Monday night with her kids, and will be performing with other local and international acts, such as Ne-Yo ,rapper Eve, Deniece Williams on the lawns of Jamaica House.

Other performers include the man himself "Shaggy", Maxi Priest, Romain Virgo, Coco Tea, Half Pint, Tami Chynn, Wayne Marshall, Chino and Assassin.

Shaggy and Friends Charity Concert will raise funds for the Bustamante Hospital for Children and Chain of Hope Foundation.

Persons wishing to donate to The Shaggy Make A Difference Foundation can now do so via text message, thanks to telecommunications firms Digicel and LIME. By sending a text message to Digicel 488-4175, anyone can donate $20 to the charity and for LIME text the number 444-4248 for a donation of $50 per sms. Both will benefit the Bustamante Hospital for Children

Chino will be releasing his self-entitled US album "Chino"

Reggae Dancehall artiste Chino will be releasing his self-entitled US album "Chino", scheedule to release on May 24.

The  first two singles from the album,  I Am and Seal The Link (Leaving), have been receiving  receiving great reviews so far. I Am, is an upbeat club song and Seal The Link (Leaving), a slow, provocative reggae track

Both songs frm the album were  produced by Stephen ‘Di Genius’ McGregor . In an statement Chino revealed “The album will have a lot of great tracks. It won’t be just one genre and that’s in an effort to cater to not only the US market, but also the European and Caribbean territories. There will be reggae, dancehall, jazz, hip hop and a lot more influences. Every market has their favourite kind of music, so we kept that in mind when we were putting the concept of the album together,”
