Reggae Icon Patra Release New Single "Don't Leave Me Lonely"

Dancehall celebrity Patra released a new reggae single, titled "Don't Leave Me Lonely," for pre-order on iTunes Friday, August 30, 2013. The official release date for the single is today (September 10, 2013).

The new single – a cuddlesome after-hours romance fantasy – features Patra's first collaboration with acclaimed reggae producer Kemar 'Flava' McGregor, combining aphrodisiacal sensuality with a pop-reggae production sound.

“The concept of this song is all about love, and as a woman, you have to demand what you need in the bedroom and anywhere else,” said Patra. “This song is written to create tender vibes to love making - so it's an irie thing.”

For Patra, the recipe for sensual reggae is quite straightforward – a high-quality musical track with a deep, sexy bass groove, which inspires Patra to conjure her honest affinities for romance into lyrical and melodic offerings for loving couples.

“I want my fans to relax and enjoy what I have to offer, which is good music, and ‘Don't Leave Me Lonely’ puts them right in that mood,” said Patra. “For me, sexiness is a habit! And how I feel inside – that's how I express my love. Reggae music is the most powerful music in the world, so with the right bass line and the right flow, it’s bound to be a turn-on for anyone.”

Born Dorothy Smith in Kingston, Jamaica, Patra is a world-famous reggae icon with a string of crossover dancehall hits. Her singles have secured 15 Billboard chart appearances during her career, including her first number-one single, “Worker Man,” which topped the Billboard Dance Chart in 1994. Her other hits include Billboard R&B top-40 singles “Romantic Call,” “Pull Up To My Bumper” and “Scent of Attraction.” Her first two albums, “Queen of the Pack,” and “Scent of Attraction,” both reached number one on the Billboard Reggae Albums Chart in 1993 and 1995 respectively, and “Scent of Attraction” also reached number 28 on the Billboard R&B/Hip Hop Albums Chart in 1995.

Dancehall Diva "Patra" new single “Come Ova” featuring Delus

What does a veteran dancehall diva and a rising star, have in common? Well for one, a new single titled "Come Ova"produced by Dameon Gayle of Warrior Musick Productions. Delus and Patra teamed up on the dancehall track that is sure to be a club hit. The mature lyrics and Gayle'ssignature hard hitting riddim will undoubtedly appeal to fans, DJs and fellow artists.
Gayle, who is also responsible for the production of Delus' mega hit, "What Tomorrow May Bring," remarks "It was a wonderful experience for me working with one of the greats from the 90s and one of the best of our time. The song literally appeared out of thin air - 'a moment in time' I would call it. Delus and Patra executed the song flawlessly and I am just happy to be a part of history in the making with these two professional artists."

Patra, who has been on hiatus for a few years, is back with new management, A&R Executive/Producer Rich Nice and an album slated for release this summer. In a recent interview with the Jamaica Observer, Patra stated the following about her return, "I'm a sex symbol and I am ready to give a show. I am back with a new mature edge. It is not about going on stage and spitting lyrics. 2012 will see the return of the 'Queen' in full force."

The dancehall artist first achieved success in 1994 when she was featured on Shabba Ranks single "Family Affair" which peaked at #84 on theBillboard Hot 100 chart. She followed up with "Worker Man" which also peaked at #53 on the Hot 100 chart, the Top 20 on the R&B chart and #1 on the U.S. Dance chart. Her second single, "Romantic Call," a collaboration with emcee Yo-Yo, also did well. Patra recorded her debut album Queen of The Pack, which featured the hit single, "Think (About It)" and sophomore album Scent of Attraction, both of which did very well. However, her biggest hit was the remake of Grace Jones' "Pull Up to the Bumper."

Delus, who has been busy promoting single "What Tomorrow May Bring,"states "I liked working with Patra on this project and hope there will be another opportunity to work with her in the near future. Dameon was instrumental in making the connection and I am really grateful for his support. I hope the single will resonate well with fans and based on the initial response, I think it will."

Stacey Bethel, Delus' manager adds, "I like the pairing. When you listen to the single, the chemistry between Delus and Patra is evident and I can't wait to see them perform the song together. Like "Another Gal" which was a summer 2011 hit, I think "Come Ova" will be the summer 2012 hit. Or at least we hope it will be."

Jamaica's Zip FM will be one of the first stations to premiere the single with others to follow over the weekend.

Female Dancehall Deejay Patra to release album this Summer

Patra

After being away from the spot light in nearly decade Dancehall Great Patra is heading for a comeback, after dominating the 90's, with hits such as Worker Man, Romantic Call, Dip and Fall Back and Scent of Attraction.

Patra is currently working on a 12 -track album in New York City , with new Manager . A&R Executive/ Producer Rich Nice , to be released this summer.


In 2003 Patra released an album "The Great Escape" and "Where I’ve Been"in 2005


In an interview with the Jamaica Observer Patra said "I have turned down several shows, so it was not a matter of me not getting calls for events. I was tired and suffering from depression as I wanted to get out of my contract and, to me, the process was crawling,"

Being away from the spotlight has helped Patra to have a  more spiritually connection with God and has allowed her complete her Bachelor's Degree in history and political science.

Patra promises fans a return of the hardcore, rough edge persona which made her a household name nearly two decades ago, intimating that 2012 will see her evolution come to fruition.
