Reggae Band 'One Third' To Blend Harmonies At Jamaica Jazz and Blues

Reggae Band One Third is fired up about their first ever performance on the Jamaica Jazz and Blues main stage.  The three young men who form the band, Miguel Walters, Alpheus Johnson and Adrian Campbell stole the hearts of all Jamaicans in front of their television screens back in 2006 when they emerged winners of the local popular talent contest, The Digicel Rising Stars.  One Third  brought an upbeat performance the Jamaican household was not ready for, a mix of sophisticated, jazzy and bluesy covers fused with reggae and dancehall beats. They delivered their set each week reminiscent of how Americans presented sheet music once upon a time, blending harmonies, alto and sopranos and propelled the standard of performance for that competition to new heights. 

One Third

One Third  will now meet their ideal audience at a major event when they perform at Jamaica Jazz and Blues, "we will be performing on Saturday night, February 1 with our IN2Nation band, " said Miguel Walters, "and have put together what we believe will be an entertaining package for our audience."  The set he continued, "will be a wonderful mix of genres in true One Third style that our fans have come to know and love this band for."  

One Third  has performed across the island, the Caribbean and United States since 2006. They called their unique style 'Reggae-soul' and has recorded and released several covers and originals to include popular their popular, Take My Breath Away, The Streets and The World is Mine, I Wanna Know What Love is, One A Way, I Want Your Love and Memories.

Toni Braxton To Headline Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival

nternational and Grammy award winner Toni Braxton is set to perform at the Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival, scheduled for January. 30 - February 1 2014 at Greenfield Stadium in Trelawny.

Joining the singer is iconic singer, Chaka Khan, country singer Crystal Gayle, R&B singers, Chrisette Michelle and Aaron Neville.

Braxton, who is known for the hit song “Un-break My Heart”, has previously performed in Jamaican back in 2009 at Reggae Sumfest.

This year’s Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival will begin at the end of January to avoid bookings clashes with next year’s Grammy Awards, which is set to be staged on January 26 in Los Angeles. Several patrons in Jamaica and overseas have reportedly made advanced ticket purchases.

Mary J. Blige, John Legend and Michael Bolton. to headline Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival 2013

The Annual Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival will be headline by R & B singer Mary J. Blige, John Legend and Michael Bolton.  The three day music festival will be held at the Greenfield Stadium, Trelawny, Jamaica from January 24-26, 2013.  Trelawny will be ignited once again by this festival themed 'the Art of Music'. This world class event will showcase several genres such as Country, Jazz, R&B and Reggae

 

Producer of the event Walter Elmore stated that the event will be an unforgettable one.  "It's a pleasure to have Mary, who is a powerhouse, along with John and Michael. We know Jamaicans love their music and we are working to create a package they will thoroughly enjoy," he said

 

The festival has attracted numerous international artists, including Gladys Knight, Maroon 5, Natalie Cole, Diana Ross, Kenny Rogers, Anita Baker, Hall & Oates, John Legend, Alicia Keys, Maxi Priest, Babyface, The Whispers, Joss Stone, Monty Alexander, Billy Ocean, Chaka Khan, Mary J. Ne-Yo Launches record label "Compound Island" In Jamaica

Over the weekend  Ne-Yo launched his new record label Compound Island in Jamaica,with celebrity friends Shaggy, Adrienne Bailon, Keri Hilson and  actor Rockmond Dunbar there for support.


Guest were treated to the  Ne-Yo's  new movie, "Red Tails"  premiere, at a pool party at Secrets Resort, and a performance at the annual Jazz Festival.

Jamaican roots play "Bashment Granny" to hit the Big Screen this May

The popular Jamaican roots play Bashment Granny will make it's way to the big screen in May. The movie will feature the original cast of  Keith "Shebada" Ramsay, Garfield Reid, Maxwell "Mr. Basement" Grant, Ruth "Miss P" Samuels, Patrick "Sargeant" Smith .

The  movie Bashment Granny, is part of the overall drive to move theatre mainstream, this according to Stages director, Bunny Allen

18 other stage plays are set to be converted into movies within the next 5 years, which includes another popular play  "Maama Man" by Ralph Holness
