Captain Barkey to Be Buried Tomorrow

Funeral service for the the late, Wayne ‘Captain Barkey’ Hamilton will be held tomorrow (November 8) the Hagley Park Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Kingston.

The memorial service will commence at 11 a.m, followed by an interment at Up Park Camp in St. Andrew

Captain Barkey’s body was flown back to Jamaica from New York a few weeks ago, after he was shot and killed following an incident outside a hotel in Bronx. Barkey and his female companion, Tracy Bennett were shot and killed by Bennett’s estranged ex-boyfriend, Joseph Kernizan on October 13.

Kernizan later committed suicide after law enforcement officials surrounded an apartment in Florida.

Suspect in the death of 'Captain Barkey 'and Tracy Bennett Commits Suicide

Following the murder of Wayne ‘Captain Barkey’ Hamilton and his female companion, Tracy Bennett outside a New York motel on Saturday, it was reported that the accused killer Joseph Kernizan, has committed suicide in Miami.

According to New York law enforcement officials Kernizan shot himself in the head as police tried to enter the apartment in an effort to arrest him.

With the help Federal Marshals and the Miami police the New York Police Department were able to track down Kernizan to a two-story, four-family house in Miami, where he was staying are fleeing from the hotel in Bronx

Kernizan is the ex-boyfriend of Tracy Bennett who has two children together. According reports, Captain Barkey who is married has been dating Bennett for the last five years and was recently receiving death threats from Kernizan

Prior to Captain Barkey murder he was warned by long-time friend and musical partner, Wickerman to disassociate himself from Bennett considering the possible risks and ramifications.

Captain Barkey body will be flown to Jamaica in a few weeks and will be buried in Portmore, St. Catherine.

Captain Barkey and Female Companion Shot Dead Outside Bronx Hotel

Veteran deejay, Wayne ‘Captain Barkey’ Hamilton was shot and killed outside a Bronx motel in New York on Saturday along with a female companion, Tracy Bennett.

According to the New York Police Department (NYPD), Captain Barkey and 38-year-old Tracy Bennett were fatally shot by Bennett’s ex-boyfriend at the Holiday Motel.

 

Reports are that Bennett recently filed a restraining order against her ex-boyfriend before the shooting. However, at 3 a.m. on Saturday, witnesses and law enforcement officials stated that both victim were about to leave the motel in Bennett’s white Toyota Camry when the gunman sprinted out of the darkness and shot them.

According to the Daily News, "Hamilton hopped from the passenger seat and tried to escape the hail of bullets that cut him down just outside the motel office".

"The suspect then turned his pistol on the weeping Bennett as she stood next to her parked sedan, its motor still running," the newspaper report added.

One Witness reports

“I heard [her] plead for [her] life and then heard gunshots,” “She was begging,” said Keshia Barrett, 36, who was heard the mayhem from her bed.

Captain Barkey gained fame in 1996 with hit song Go Go Wine, which he composed in 1996. Solo-wise, Barkey penned efforts such as Anti Christ, Bun Fi Bun and Gun while his partnership with Wickerman produced singles like Wicked and Style Style Captain.
