C
urrently in the studio working on a plethora of new material slated for release in the weeks ahead, Dancehall artiste Bramma ‘Di Gorilla this week released a new single that has fans perplexed as to the inspiration behind the composition.

The track titled ‘Birds Of A Feather’ showcases Bramma’s talent beyond toasting fiery lyrics on a hot beat. In this latest offering the ‘Gorilla Boss’ goes acoustic, allowing fans to experience the dichotomy of his musical artistry interlaced with great storytelling, backed by the sounds of a melodic steel-string guitar. The single is produced by S-Lock Entertainment and alludes to a true story involving a treacherous act committed by a close friend once held in high esteem from infancy.

In a statement to the media Bramma explains the reason behind the track, citing that he wanted to offer something different to his fans other than the cliché hardcore lyrics on a computerized bass-laden Dancehall beat.

“As an artiste you have to explore new avenues and sounds if you intend to grow musically. I want to do something different  I  can’t be singing the same type music every day. Hence, to broaden my horizon, I decided to rehash the art of storytelling on this project backed by an acoustic guitar showcasing a more contemporary side to my me allowing people to listen and hear the message in the music.”

Now available on iTunes, Bramma added that plans are also afoot to shoot an official video in the coming weeks.

The S-Lock recording artiste recently scored his second career No.1 with ‘Have Dis‘ an audacious street anthem featuring label-mates and newcomers: Idus, Diamond, RP, X-File and Krucial. His previous chart topper came courtesy of Stephen ‘Di Genius’ McGregor produced Cha Cha Bwoy featured on the Mad World rhythm.

I
f the annexing of Cha Cha Bwoy to the playlist of Home Boyz Radio in Kenya and BBC 1Xtra in the United Kingdom was not a good enough start for the New Year, Dancehall deejay Bramma ‘Di Gorilla’ is definitely upping the ante to enjoy even greater success as the year unfolds.

Following last weekend’s update of the very popular HITLIST Video Countdown hosted by CVM Television, it was revealed that Cha Cha Bwoy had clinched the top spot on their ‘On The Rise’ chart making it Bramma’s first official No.1 since his emergence on the Jamaican music scene. The burgeoning star was very elated after receiving the good news via S-Lock Entertainment, his management company.

According of the raspy voice singer, “This is an excellent entry into the New Year… it feels great to know all those years of tireless promotion by the team are finally paying off slowly but surely.”

Meanwhile, Bramma is also been confirmed for the upcoming RJR Cross Country Invasion. The island-wide tour which last for several weeks features a number of the group's media personalities along with local entertainers performing at various road shows across the length and breadth of the island. The group's employees also get to show off their athleticism in several sporting disciplines, interspersed with activities for members of the public. The tour is used as a vehicle to nurture talent and bolster the RJR brand.

Slated to leave the island in the coming weeks, Bramma earlier this week release a new single titled Guide & Protect Me courtesy of Stephen ‘Di Genius’ McGregor whilst making preparation to shoot the video for his street bubbler Wah Gwaan Mi Darlin produced by Chimney Records.

Calabar High School Honours Bramma For His Musical Contribution

Writer : Caribbean E-Magazine on Monday, November 4, 2013 | 10:28 AM

Resurgent deejay Lloyd Brammer better known as Bramma ‘Di Gorilla last weekend got a pleasant surprise from officials of the Calabar High School Parents Teachers Association (P.T.A) during a visit to lend support to their fundraising campaign.

An avid supporter of his alma mater, the S-Lock Entertainment recording artiste while preparing for his performance, was presented with a Certificate of Recognition by the school for his contribution to the Jamaica Music Industry and dedication to the upliftment of the academic institution.

Amidst his spirited performance, Bramma took time out to thank the entire school body for the award ‘even the teacher who told him he wouldn’t amount to anything in life’ and pledged his continued support for the Red Hills Road based institution.

Alluding to the award Bramma in a release to the media says, “This is a great move by Calabar to honour its past students, not only the academicians but also those who are making an impact locally and globally in other sectors of business. Other institutions should look into adopting similar programs to recognize so many of the unsung heroes of this country. Not everyone will be a scholar but we can all contribute positively to society in other ways and I’s good to see something is taking notice… so big up Calabar again!”

Meanwhile, after premiering the official medley video for the Stephen McGregor produced ‘Cha Cha Bwoy’ and JA’s productions ‘Meet Mi Pon Di Way’ last weekend. The ‘Gorilla Dreadlocks Rasta’ singer is now making final preparations for a series of stints cross the Caribbean and Europe heading into the Christmas season. On the international scene Bramma’s melodic ballad ‘Wah Gwaan Mi Darlin’ on the Rising Sun Rhythm compilation has hit the iTunes Top 10 Album chart and continues to gain increased momentum.
