From June
4 to 7, the two-am show will feature a retrospective look at the
30-year-long careers of the artists, whose lives and careers have many
similarities.
“For this upcoming
exhibition in New York at the consulate, we plan to dazzle art lovers there
with the best of our creations over the last thirty years,” said Morgan.
Both Blackwood and Morgan are self-taught painters who moved from their fishing village to bustling Kingston in pursuit of their artistic goals. Morgan specializes in landscapes, abstract and still life, while Blackwood focuses on rural landscapes.
“Art for me is a divine
inspiration and I feel extremely blessed to live in Jamaica where I can wake up
to the tropical sights, smells and sounds of art in motion”, said Blackwood.
“Sometimes my inspiration comes in the form of a dream, and when that happens,
I can't wait to wake up in the morning to start caressing the canvass with my
brush.”
There was a private showing on June 3 and the
exhibition opens to the public on June 4 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. From June
5 through 7, the exhibit can be seen from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Want to see the
show, visit www.paulblackwoodart.com
