Miss Guyana Arti Cameron could once again miss out on this year’s Miss World Pageant to be held in Mongolia China, because of lack of sponsorship.
Arti was crowned Miss Guyana World 2011, and was unable to represent Guyana in last year’s pageant because of visa issues. She was however, allowed to keep the crown for two-years in order to fulfill her international obligations.
According to a US-Based Guyanese non-governmental Organization the Guyana Tri-State Alliance (GTSA), it is a month-long competition, which requires Cameron to be in Mongolia from July18th to August 18th. However, the franchise holder, a UK based Guyanese Businessman Ken Chung, and Ms. Aletha Shepherd a franchise representative have yet to date made any contribution towards Cameron’s participation in the event.
Now Cameron might not be able to participate this according to a letter received from Ms. Shepherd a representative of the Franchise, stating that there was no money to purchase her ticket.
The Guyana Tri-State Alliance (GTSA), has issue to plea to the nation
Fellow Guyanese, again Guyana is set to be embarrassed, but most importantly Guyana has a most deserved Miss World, intelligent and beautiful, who has been working hard in preparation to represent Guyana. We cannot present to the world that Guyana is so poor that it cannot fulfill its obligations.
We are appealing to you, I know that we can do it, and not let this opportunity pass. I am asking to come together and sponsor her ticket. I have researched on Travelocity-cheapest ticket to Upper Mongolia is $3,500.00 including fees and taxes with 37 hours flying time. I am hoping that one of our travel agents can come up with a more reasonable price and shorter flying time. The target amount we are hoping to raise is $5,000.00″.
