Stefano Brown |
Meet 18 year old Stefano Brown who will be representing Jamaica at this prestigious event.
Tell us about yourself?
My name is Stefano Brown; I am 18 years of age…a Pre-University student who attends St.George’s College, pursuing my associate degree in Sociology. I enjoy reading, researching and designing in my spare time and I also do events promoting and co-coordinating part time. I am an individual who does not settle for mediocrity and believe that in everything you do, do it to the best of the abilities or don’t do it at all.
Why do you want to become Mr. Teen United
Nations?
I would want to become Mr. Teen United Nations because I could use this as a platform to uplift and encourage the adolescent males in my society due to the growing problem in our society today that males are being marginalized and also give back to the Jamaican economy through charity events and organizing food drive alongside the Ministry of Youth and Culture.
How do you feel as a teen living in the Caribbean?
As a teen living in the Caribbean I feel more accomplished and confident because looking about from where we came from, the systems of slavery our ancestors had to endure and now we as black nation is occupying some of the most prestigious occupations in society. Both regionally and internationally.
Where do you see yourself in five years time? In the next five years I see myself acquiring my associate degree and Bachelors degree in sociology and also a youth ambassador for my country.
What is your message to teenagers around the world?
Think confidently of yourself and other will think confidently of you. But if you think negatively of yourself, others will also think negatively of you. So always think positively of yourself and others."
Who is your role model?
My Role model is Orville Burrell otherwise known as shaggy because even though he is an accomplished individual he possesses qualities of which are deemed as kind and sincere this can be noticed through the donations he has been making every year to the Bustamante Children’s Hospital through stage shows and fund raising events.
What would people be surprise to learn about you?
People would be surprised to know that even I experience emotional breakdowns from time to time and there are my days when I feel like giving up but through the grace of God I somehow find that drive and determination to continue on my course.
What do you want to say to the people of Caribbean?
To the people o the Caribbean stand strong, be confident in your own skin, this trend that is becoming widespread in our society today is the issue of bleaching we are a beautiful nation and should not lower our self to such acts such as skin lightening. As the most famous Marcus Garvey said “the black skin is not a badge of shame, but rather a glorious symbol of national greatness.”
Are you currently getting the support needed to represent Jamaica?
I am currently seeking sponsorship opportunity. I want appeal to persons to help to sponsor my trip to the finals in the USA.
I have a great possibility to making the Jamaican proud. I will help to sell the Jamaica to a large international audience.
