Jamaican filmmaker debuts "The Musical Documentary – Bob Marley: The Making Of A Legend"

A Jamaican filmmaker and Actress Esther Anderson, is currently in Barbados promoting her own movie about the life Bob Marley, entitled The Musical Documentary – Bob Marley: The Making Of A Legend. 

The film which features never-before-seen footage, in black and white, of Bob Marley and the Wailers.

Anderson, who is also the co-founder of Island Records, helped launch Bob Marley and the Wailers, after meeting Bob in New York City. She also collaborated with Marley on , Get Up, Stand Up and I Shot The Sheriff.

 Esther Anderson is also known for  launching  the international careers of local singers Millie Small and Jimmy Cliff.


Another film on the life of the great Icon ""Marley" by Scottish Director Kevin MacDonald is set to premiere on April 20th.


Plot Summary

Bob Marley: The Making of a Legend (2011)

A kaleidoscopic portrait of the making of a legend. Through intimate scenes shot on a Sony video camera in 1970s Jamaica filmmaker Esther Anderson artfully constructed the union between Reggae and Rasta that launched the international career and renowned image of Bob Marley and The Wailers. Revisiting that formative time she reveals to what degree her original vision set in motion the radical change of perception and consciousness both musically and socially around the world.
