The event was held Jamaica College, where there was a re staging of the Jamaica's independence in 1962, with the “We Rise”, in celebration of the 50th anniversary of independence.
Throughout the day patrons were brought to 1962 with different elements Jamaican culture inclusive of poetry, dance, and music, with speakers chosen to inspire the audience of over nine hundred members of staff. Other activities includes a parade with Jonkanco bands and drummers, Tainos on a float depicting the Jamaican Coat of Arms, Effigees of Nanny, Marcus Garvey and Paul Bogle, Set Girls, Revival Practitioners, and Ska, Mento and Dancehall Dancers.
The parade ended with the entrance of Miss Jamaica World 2011 Danielle Crosskill on the back of a vintage car waving to throngs of awe inspired team members.
