Miss Jamaica World 2011 is Danielle Crosskill

Writer : Caribbean E-Magazine on Sunday, September 11, 2011 | 10:59 AM

The newly crowned Miss Jamaica World is 25 year old Danielle Crosskill, who was sponsored by Ocean Spray. She was chosen from a field of  20 young ladies, and will represent Jamaica at the Miss World Competition on November 6, 2011 in London

Danielle is  the General Manager at Carichem Products Ltd and  also works part time  as a school , teacher and graduated with a  Bachelors of Science Degree in International Relations from UWI.

The top 12 girls were chosen, which originally would have been top 10, but judges had difficulties selecting 10. We saw five "Fast Track winners making it to the top 12 which includes:
Zahra McGraham, Miss Jamaica World Sports
Liane Chung , Miss Jamaica World Beach Beauty
Chantel Davis, Miss Jamaica World Talent Winner
Maya Wilkinson, Miss Jamaica World Model Competition
Chavoy Gordon, Miss Jamaica Beauty with a Purpose Winner

Others rounding up the top 12 includes:
Arielle Foot, Dahlia Dwyer, Danielle Crosskill,Rene Harris,Kayla Mendes,Roxanne Elliott and Lisa Williams.

The top 12 girls were all interviewed from which the judges selected the top 5 contestants. The judges picks were Chavoy Gordon, Danielle Crosskill,Kayla Mendes,Zahra McGraham and Chantel Davis. It was a surprise for me not see Lisa Williams.in the top, because I think she did a good job answering her question. I am not sure if the judges combined all the scores through out the competition or if choosing the top 5 were solely based on the interview questions

The top 5 were then asked questions based on the judge each person selected.  Contestant number Chavoy Gordon, was asked a question by Former Miss Jamaica World Cindy Shakespeare, however she failed to answer the question on the first attempt, and asked that it should be repeated. Second attempt also proved to be a failure, as she asked if she could start over, which at that time was not permitted. However the judges later decided that she should be given a chance

While I and some audience  members might not be in agreement with the judges, her questions proved to be an "irony" as it relates to "False Start' rule set by IAAF. In the Miss World Competition the "False Start rule would have applied.

After all top five girls were interviewed , third place went to Chantel Davis, second place to Kayla Mendes.  Many believe that if Chavoy Gordon did not falter in her question she would have won the competition

The sectional Prize winners for the night went to:
Tvj Most Aware  Award - Chavoy Gordon
Most congenial  Award- Lisa Williams
Miss Skin Tone  Award- Chavoy Gordon
Best Leg Award - Chavoy Gordon

Other winners include "Best Gown" went to  Michelle Daley, while other favourite dress of the night was worn by Reeshma Ragbeer. The Ocean Spray Competition held on Facebook went to Roxanne Elliott

CEM "People 's Choice Winner", this was vote from our website and has no bearing on the judging of the Miss Jamaica World Organization went to Kayla Mende.

Over it was a wonderful production, we congratulation  Danielle Crosskill, as she was also our winner based on the interview segments.

The entertainers came out and did well, Tarrus Riley "Superman" his way to the ladies heart, especially  the charming beauty Danielle

We at CEM think it was a wonderful production, ever segment flowed very well and the MC's for the night Denise Hunt and Adrian Atkinson did a wonderful job, so congratulations are in order for the team of the Miss Jamaica World Organization , as this is the best year we have seen in terms of staging. job well done.

Is this nepotism? Here is Simon Crosskill at the pageant hosting for TVJ who is a sponsor & he's talking about his daughter Danielle who eventually wins the crown!

Even if nepotism got her in the top 12. She held her own in the interview sections. I believed she answered best during both interviews

The fact that Simon Croskill is one of the hosts doesn't say much in my opinion. He did not influence the decision in any way and I think he stayed mutual even when pressed by his co-host. Danielle proved to be the best way over the running favourite. If you struggle against an audience of this size to answer a current affair question what will you do in front of billions of viewers when you reach London? I think the best choice was made.

I agree with you Kesreen

I think Danielle was the best choice, she was confident throught out the competition and she answered her questions the best.

Danielle is beautiful, eloquent and very intelligent. She was obviously the crowd favorite from the beginning and she held her own until the very end. Just watching the live feed, I found myself smiling whenever she smiled.lol.. She was real and genuinely pleasant. I think she has a great chance at representing Jamaica further. Congrats Danielle and "Way to go!" Judges. Great & right choice!
