With her racy single “One Man Woman,” featuring Dancehall king Beenie Man bubbling in the top ten on the local charts, and her latest club-banger “You A Life” in heavy radio rotation, the bold and sassy 23 year old was a natural choice for the Cruiseliv episode about sexuality and Jamaican women.
“I am a young, fresh face, and my style and the way I carry myself is naturally sexy,” says LaToya ‘Toya’ Jackson. “Recently, I’ve been attracting international attention, filming in the United States, and now doing a television show for Norway about Jamaica and Jamaican women. It’s very exciting.”
Toya first earned recognition on Jamaica’s vibrant party scene for her brash, jaw-dropping, and unpredictable sense of fashion at popular events like ‘Wet Wet,’ ‘Black & White’ and the ‘Miami Link-Up’ parties. After meeting Downsound Records CEO Josef Bogdanovich, she tried her hand at music, releasing the pop-Dancehall single “Too Sexy” in 2007. The well-received single “Hot Like a Fire,” in 2009, followed by the chart-topping “Boss Lady” cemented her place among the island’s top-rated artists, earning Toya performance spots on Jamaica’s world-famous Reggae Sumfest, and “greatest one night Reggae show on Earth” Sting.
"Toya is a one of a kind trend setter,” says Bogdanovich. “The world is at her finger tips - all she’s gotta do is grab it and squeeze.”
Toya’s Cruiseliv episode will premiere on TVNorge in Norway and neighboring Scandinavian countries on Wednesday, November 23rd at 8:30pm. The episode will be available online, date and time to be announced. For more information on Toya, click here
