Mainstream success has long escaped dancehall artiste Mr Lexx (formerly Lexxus). However his recent collaboration Hold the Line in which he teams up with Major Lazer and Santigold, might just be the key to unlock the bolted doors.

The animated video for Hold the Line has been nominated in the Breakthrough Video category of the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards.

Major Lazer is a fictional cartoon character, who according to press releases fought as a Jamaican commando who lost his arm in a secret zombie war in 1984. He fights vampires and various monsters, parties hard, and has a rocket powered skateboard. Made up of DJs Diplo and Switch, the two were introduced after working with M.I.A..

The duo's first album, Guns Don't Kill People...Lazers Do was released on June 16, 2009 on Downtown Records. It was recorded here in Jamaica at Tuff Gong Studios. Guests including Santigold, Vybz Kartel, Ward 21, Busy Signal, Nina Sky, Amanda Blank, Mr. Vegas, Turbulence, Mapei, T.O.K, Prince Zimboo, Leftside and others contribute to the album.

It also features additional production from Afro Jack and Crookers. This is the first release to come out of the label partnership between Downtown Records and Diplo's label Mad Decent.
