TRÉVON STYLEZ DEFEATS BLINDNESS TO PURSUE HIS PASSION

Kingston, Jamaica – Dwayne Johnson, more widely known as Trévon Stylez, is revolutionizing reggae music one song at a time, with his Ne-Yo soul, R&B  influence, fused with classic 80’s lovers rock. His recent single entitledProblem’, on Half-A-Puff’s Love Sick’ riddim, is a colourful song about a fictitious relationship where a mistress, ‘under cover lover’, won’t leave him alone. ‘Problem’ is gaining momentum throughout the Caribbean club scene and on radio stations including RSL 97, St. Lucia, Bess FM, Jamaica and has recently began to increase momentum throughout Europe and South America. Now Stylez is eagerly looking forward to some hot collaboration towards the end of summer for his forthcoming single releases which has already been receiving rave reviews form industry insiders.

Stylez’ success to-date seems a far cry away from his unlikely beginnings. He was born with a serious eye condition which caused extreme near sightedness, runny eyes and cast vision. After his first two months in the world Stylez was weaned off breast milk to spend his early childhood in and out of hospital. He had his first eye operation at 6 months old. His parents were told that he would be blind by the age of 7. When his sight prevailed after the age of 7 Doctors were still sceptic and gave him just another 7 years. Now at the age of 25 Stylez’ eye sight has still not deteriorated further.

Growing up, Stylez recalls members of his community being unsympathetic, both adults and children would taunt him, whispering superstitious stories behind his back. He was nicknamed “blindy” and “Kna see” at school. It was his exceptional gift in the area of music that kept him strong during his childhood struggles and reminded him that he had something unique and special to offer the world.

“This sounds like a cliché but music is everything to me. From 3 years old my father was recording me. I’m always at the studio. I started professional music at 17,” said Stylez.
Stylez’ vocal style and sound has been compared to Slim from 112. Yet he is quick to let people know: “Don’t get it twisted, I’m Trévon Stylez, that‘s what I sound like”.
