Cassandra Whyte of Jamaica is Miss Deaf International 2011

It was an historical win for Cassandra Whyte who represented  Jamaica in Orlando, at the second staging of the Miss Deaf International 2011.  Cassandra  won the pageant out of a field of 20 representatives from across the world and walked away with the opportunity to represent deaf women worldwide

Miss Deaf Brazil was the first runner-up, while second runner-up went to Miss Deaf France, and  Miss Deaf Korea was placed third

The two day event  which was  held  at the Rosen Plaza Hotel in Orlando from  July 14-16, saw contestant from across the globe participating in a swimsuit section, talent show, national costume section and evening gown.

Cassandra, social worker at the Jamaica Association for the Deaf, won the Miss Deaf Jamaica last year. This is the first time, Jamaica is represented.
