Usain Bolt Rumoured to Join the Cast of the Big Screen Movie "The Secret Service"

Olympian Usain Bolt is best known for his talent on the tracks and his vibrant personality but, the Athlete might soon add Actor to his resume, this according g to reports.

Hollywood actor Samuel L. Jackson made the comment at the GQ Men of the Year awards in central London that producers are trying to recruit Bolt for an upcoming movie, “The Secret Service”

The Secret Service stars Colin Firth and Michael Caine as secret agents battling a variety of villains, one of whom is said to be played by Samuel L Jackson. Firth will reportedly play the uncle of the main character, a young tearaway from the mean streets of London recruited into a British spy school that turns out suave and sophisticated young agents in the vein of 007. Caine reportedly plays the head of the secret service.

Special cameo appearances will include: David Beckham who would be playing himself, Adele who will also play a villain, Sir Elton John and Taylor Swift. Unknown British actor Taron Egerton has been tipped for the role of the young spy.

The screenplay will be written by Jane Goldman, who worked with Matthew Vaughn on the Kick Ass movies.

The Secret Service is expected to be released in November 2014.

Jamaican roots play "Bashment Granny" to hit the Big Screen this May

The popular Jamaican roots play Bashment Granny will make it's way to the big screen in May. The movie will feature the original cast of  Keith "Shebada" Ramsay, Garfield Reid, Maxwell "Mr. Basement" Grant, Ruth "Miss P" Samuels, Patrick "Sargeant" Smith .

The  movie Bashment Granny, is part of the overall drive to move theatre mainstream, this according to Stages director, Bunny Allen

18 other stage plays are set to be converted into movies within the next 5 years, which includes another popular play  "Maama Man" by Ralph Holness

HBO Documentary Films New York premiered critically acclaimed HBO documentary “Sing Your Songs” chronicling the life & iconic career of legendary entertainer and Civil Rights hero Harry Belafonte at the Apollo Theatre in Harlem on Oct. 6.

During the course of an inspiring life that has paralleled the American civil rights movement, artist and crusader Harry Belafonte has tirelessly used his humanitarian influence to advance the causes of social justice, while forging a unique career punctuated by prestigious awards and industry firsts.

An intimate feature-length documentary, “Sing Your Songs” tells the rich life story of this remarkable artist and humanitarian when the film premiers exclusively on HBO on Oct. 17 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT.
The two-hour film covers Belafonte’s life as calypso singer, television personality, husband, father, and world civil rights activists. Born in Harlem on March 1, 1927 of Jamaican descent mother Matannee, and father Harold George Belafonte, Sr. of Martinique, and from 1932-1940 he lived with his grandmother in her native country Jamaica.

When he returned to New York he attended George Washington High School after which he join the Navy and served during World War II. At the end of 1940s, he took classes in acting at the Dramatic Workshop of the New School in New York and performed in clubs in New York to pay for acting classes.

At first he was a pop singer, launching his recording career on the Roost label, but later he developed a keen interest in folk music. He was dubbed the “King of Calypso” for popularizing the Caribbean musical style with an international audience in the 1950s.

Throughout his career, he has been an advocate for civil rights and humanitarian causes. He marched with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. during the turbulent civil rights movement of the 1960s. Belafonte supported the anti-Apartheid movement in South Africa in the 1980s, which resulted in the release of Nelson Mandela from 26 years in prison in South Africa. Mandela later became president of South Africa in 1990s.

Belafonte continued his humanitarian causes to the famine in Ethiopia where millions of women and children were starving, and collaborated with song writer Quincy Jones to produce the song “We Are the World,” that was performed by popular singers from around the world to bring attention to the starving children of Ethiopia.

Belafonte is the father of three daughters and a son, and has two grandchildren, from two marriages. In April 2008, he married Pamela Frank.

Do you have what it takes to be the next Caribbean’s Next Top Model?

The Caribbean’s Next Top Model search was launched at the Hilton Trinidad Ballroom foyer. The competition which will be held in Trinidad is looking for Caribbean females between the ages of  18 and 27, and should be 5' 5" and above.

They are looking for  young women from Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Aruba, Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, Bonaire, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Costa Rica, Curacao, Dominica, Dominican Republic, French Guyana, Grenada, Guadeloupe, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Martinique, Montserrat, Saba, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Martin, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, St Bartholomew, St Eustatius, Suriname, The Bahamas, Trinidad and Tobago and Turks and Caicos Island

Judges for the competition includes Wendy Fitzwilliam, who is the head judge and executive producer, Richard Young , Australian photographer Pedro Virgil and a rotating fourth judge who would be a regional or international fashion authority.


CARIBBEAN’s NEXT TOP MODEL is the Caribbean version of the hit reality series AMERICA’s NEXT TOP MODEL , where females will have a  chance to compete  for a grand prize which includes a modeling contract with a top agency or management companies.

According to Wendy “I am looking for a true Caribbean Woman who can really take over the international fashion circuit”, and she has committed her experience, finesse and valuable time in the dedication to finding a phenomenal group of young women who represent her vision "         
                                     
Auditions are currently underway,and will end August 23rd, 2011. Productions will begin September 5, and will be airing 11 episodes on WSEETV.

The show will be produced by Prestige International Inc under the direction of Executive Producers Ian M.S. Royer and Dionyse Ftizwilliam under the guidance of CBS International

Vybz Kartel New Reality Show "teacha's Pet" now accepting applicants

Jamaican Entertainer Vybz Kartel is about to embark on a new journey, 'finding love" from his new reality TV show "Teacha's Pet".


Audition are underway for 20 girls, 10 of whom should be from Jamaica and the remaining 10 from around the world, to live in one house in uptown Jamaica and live with each other to compete for Vybz Kartel’s heart. Casting will ends on August 5th  and the offical taping will befor 4 weeks. starting  August 20.

The show will aired be on local TV CVM at the end of September.

Kartel was previous married in 2005 Stacy-Ann Elliott, but the two divorced in 2008. The second time might be a "charm"
