Coming off a recent island-wide campaign as part of the RJR Cross Country Invasion Tour, dancehall singjay Navino continues to make strides in his career. The artiste last week received a nomination for the upcoming MIA Awards.

The 'Bun Hot' and ‘Chillin Time’ singer was nominated in the 'Best Upcoming Artiste Of The Year' category in the Music Industry Achievers Awards. See the full list of nominees at the official MIA Poll page.

The 2013 MIA Awards has 30 categories, including three new ones. The show's founder, Queenie Doyley says….

We added Collaboration of the Year, Reggae Song of the Year and Journalist of the Year. Two are directly music related; however, I believe more credit should be given to entertainment journalists who help to propel the entertainment industry to new heights each day. Plus, the educational aspect of the industry must be highlighted as well. It's not all about the glitter and glamour - the youth must be taught that there are many sides to entertainment. We did a survey and the selected nominees were highly recommended by everybody".

The red carpet affair is slated to unfold on June 4th at a soon-to-be-announced location.

Dancehall deejay Ninja Kid over the weekend left his imprint in St. Ann delivering commendable performances at Zip FM's ZJ Dymond Birthday celebrations and the Jamaica International Kite Festival.

Despite the heavy showers, that did very little to deter patrons who turned out in their numbers of witness some of their favourite acts on stage. Kid did not disappoint with a set that showed growth and experience while paying homage to the dignitaries in the audience.

Riding high with singles such as 'Menke' and 'Have Nuh Gal Like We', the artiste whose given name is Ojukwu Simpson has once again teamed up with emerging producer Markus Myrie for the thought provoking single 'Dem' currently making in rows on the radio waves. Talks are presently on the way for an accompanying video.

Meanwhile, Kid has been nominated for 'Comeback Artiste Of The Year' in this year's local Music Industry Achievers Awards (M.I.A) and is booked to appear at the Rumfire Ochi Explosion at Margaritaville, Ocho Rios on May 26th alongside fellow entertainers Blak Ryno, Konshens, Navino and Popcaan among others.
