Ninja Kid and Markus Myrie Shoots 'Dem' Music Video

Following an earlier nomination for ‘Comeback Artiste of the Year’ at this year’s Music Industry Achievers Awards (M.I.A) dancehall deejay Ninja Kid continues to show upward mobility in his career


On Wednesday afternoon the entertainer along with producer turn artiste Markus Myrie shot the video for their single ‘Dem’. Captured through the precision lens of director, Short Filmz Jamaica the project was shot on location at the Gargamel Studio with additional stops in Constant Spring, Half-Way-Tree, Red Hills and sections of the White Hall community.


According to Ninja Kid and Markus, the video storyline depicts the plight of a Jamaican artiste as he goes about his daily endeavours while highlighting the challenges sometimes encountered. The video features cameos by ZJ Wahwa, Kiprich, D’Angel, Blak Ryno and veteran deejay Ninja Man.

Despite several appearances on previous projects, this is an achievement for Myrie. “this is a milestone for me being my first official single and video as an artiste” – Myrie added.  The emerging producer also recently copped the ’Rookie Producer of the Year’ award at the 2012 Hapilos 21st Awards held at Waterfalls, Liguanea.


‘Dem’ is Kid’s, second video since the start of 2012 and he’s expected to release two additional videos leading into Summer.

Riding high with singles such as 'Menke', ‘Cups High’ and 'Have Nuh Gal Like We', Ninja Kid whose given name isOjukwu Simpson is booked to appear at the Rumfire Ochi Explosion on May 26th alongside fellow entertainers Blak Ryno, Konshens, Navino and Popcaan among others.

Ninja Kid Rocks Kite Festival & Cops Nomination for ‘Comeback Artiste Of The Year’

Dancehall deejay Ninja Kid over the weekend left his imprint in St. Ann delivering commendable performances at Zip FM's ZJ Dymond Birthday celebrations and the Jamaica International Kite Festival.

Despite the heavy showers, that did very little to deter patrons who turned out in their numbers of witness some of their favourite acts on stage. Kid did not disappoint with a set that showed growth and experience while paying homage to the dignitaries in the audience.

Riding high with singles such as 'Menke' and 'Have Nuh Gal Like We', the artiste whose given name is Ojukwu Simpson has once again teamed up with emerging producer Markus Myrie for the thought provoking single 'Dem' currently making in rows on the radio waves. Talks are presently on the way for an accompanying video.

Meanwhile, Kid has been nominated for 'Comeback Artiste Of The Year' in this year's local Music Industry Achievers Awards (M.I.A) and is booked to appear at the Rumfire Ochi Explosion at Margaritaville, Ocho Rios on May 26th alongside fellow entertainers Blak Ryno, Konshens, Navino and Popcaan among others.

Blak Ryno shoots video new single ‘Ice Cream’

Fresh from his stint in St. Lucia at the 2012 staging of ‘Best Of Both Worlds’ held at Samaans Park in the capital, Garrison recording artiste Blak Ryno is back in the island and fully focused on elevating his career.

The dancehall singjay on Tuesday afternoon shot the video for his soon-to-be released single ‘Ice Cream’ produced by Markus Myrie, son of incarcerated reggae superstar Buju Banton.  The project was shot throughout the thoroughfares of Kingston and St.  Andrews with stops at the Red Hills Road based Gargamel Recording studio and sections of Belgrade Heights.

Both the song and video are expected to be officially released before the end of this month with an intense promotional campaign to follow suit.

This will be Ryno’s seventh (7th) single since the start of the year. Previous releases includes: Follow Me Up, Why Life Nuh Sweet, Diss Me and Fled, Gwaan Pree featuring Ninja Kid,  Whine Up Yuh Body and Build The Youths Dem most of which have been enjoying favourable rotation across the Caribbean Diaspora.

Blak Ryno, Ninja Kid and ZJ Wah Wa for St. Lucia Independence Celebrations

This weekend the Jamaican trio of Blak Ryno, Ninja Kid and ZJ Wah Wa will invade the shores of St. Lucia for their 33rd independence celebrations slated for Saturday, February 25th at Samaans Park in the capital.

Hosted by Quality Entertainment, the concert dubbed the Best of Both Worlds will feature the three as headliners alongside some of the island’s top acts including: Ricky T, Sir Lancealot, TJ, Pringles and TJ Project with musical offering courtesy of local radio jocks; DJ Iwa, Selector Twis,  Levi Chin with a special guest appearance by Darkcide International’s ZJ Wah Wa.

No stranger to the island both Blak Ryno and ZJ Wahwa left their imprint late last year at the staging of Hot FM’s Lovefest 2011 and Heineken Green Synergy Finals respectively.  However resurgent entertainer Ninja Kid who will be making his inaugural visit says he is very upbeat and promises an energetic set.

“This will is my first time in St. Lucia and they can expect nothing but an energy-filled performance, just know say it ago tun up” – he intimated.

Kid, currently signed to Darkcide International, recently shot the medley video for his singles “Have Nuh Gal Like We” and “Tongue Ring Shot” produced on the Christopher Birch and Markus Myrie imprints respectively. The deejay is expected to premier the projects ahead of his departure.

Meanwhile, ZJ Wahwa currently featured in the latest episode of Trabass TV online viral videos dubbed‘Insecure Boyfriend’ is expected to release his first official mix cd for the year, later this week titled “The Chronicles of ZJ Wah Wa: Chapter 2: Man Of Interest”

Following closely on the success of his 2011 hits ‘Menke’ and ‘Internet Bad Boy’ the latter featuring I-Octane, resurgent deejay Ninja Kid over the weekend shot the videos for two of his chart bubblers, ‘Have Nuh Gal Like We’ and ‘Tongue Ring Shot.’

Shot on location in Smokey Vale, St. Andrew under the watchful eyes of director Simeon Hedge of Simeon Hedge Concept.  The storyline sees Kid exploring the confines of his lavish dwelling densely populated with scantily clad females as they carry out their daily chores within the walls of his home before segueing into a very provocative ‘Tongue Ring Shot’ setup.

The project feature cameos from D’Angel, Blak Ryno, Kiprich, ZJ Wahwa,Navino and producer Marcus Myrie among others and is slated for release within two weeks.

“The video shoot was fun and this is just another side of Ninja Kid that people will get an opportunity to see. The director did a great job of executing the concept___ so let’s hope the fans embrace what we are trying to bring across.” – a jovial Ninja Kid added.

The singles currently enjoying steady rotation on the FM airwaves were produced by Christopher Birch and Marcus Myrie of Markus Records respectively.  Ninja Kid is currently signed and managed by Darkcide International.
