October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month which began in 1985 in an effort to increase concern for breast health issues and spread the importance of early cancer detection.
Breast cancer is one of the leading causes of death among women, second only to skin cancer. Therefore, it is important to educate women on the risk factors and causes of breast cancer, as well as possible preventative measures and annual mammography screening for women over 40.
Early detection is the key to survive breast cancer. Women in the high risk group must go for breast screening tests after 30 years of age.
