Caribbean Film "Lock and Key" Nominated for Best Short Film At Urbanworld Film Festival

Award winning short film Lock and Key is in the running for Best Short Film in the 16th Annual Urbanworld Film Festival. The HBO and BET sponsored film festival will screen the short at 34th St AMC theater in New York Friday Sept. 21st and Saturday Sept. 22nd. (www.urbanworld.org)
Lock and Key is a black and white short based in New York. In this 10 minute film, an Afro Latino locksmith resolves his painful past through a series of flashbacks and a random encounter with a young musician. The male dominated film touches on topics like loss and redemption. This summer it won Best Short Film in the NC Black Film Festival
 
Lock and Key was written, directed and edited by filmmaker Dana Verde.  She is a 2008 graduate of The London Film School and enjoys telling enjoys telling stories about her Latin Caribbean heritage. Along with traveling the festival circuit she is writing for tv and venturing into directing feature films.
 
Lock and Key will be screening at the following festivals this fall:

  • Trinidad and Tobago Film Festival Sept. 21st, 25th, Oct. 1st
  • Hollywood Black Film Festival mid October 25th - 28th
