JCDC Festival Song winner is Abbygaye Dallas

On Saturday night 10 finalists competed in the National Festival Song Competition held at National Arena and Abbygaye Dallas sang her way to the top with "Real Born Jamaican".

Abbygaye became the third female to win the competition since it started in 1966, following the footstep of Heather "Brown Sugar Grant" and Cheryl "Chetenge" Clarke. As the winner Abbygaye received a cheque for $500,000 and a Nissan Versa car.

Former Rising Star finalist, Tashina McKenzie won second place and was also awarded Best Performer of the night with her song "Jamaica Best Dem Bad". She also receives the Facebook Voters choice award.

Oneil "Nazzleman" Scott was third place winner with "Still Going Strong" and he recipient of $160,000.

The other remaining finalists each receive a Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) plaque, and they were:
  • Calvin‘Rasta Keekee’ Wisdom with Jamaica Jah Mek Ya
  • Denton‘Monsoon’ Bedward (Bess A Bess)
  • Nester‘Humility’ Chung (This A Mi Island)
  • Sheldon Howell (Jamaica Mi Love Unu)
  • (Reginald Mills and Gregory Allison) with One For All Jamrock
  • Rudolph‘Rudy’ Tomlinson (Down in Jamaica)
  • Ryan Willis with I Love JA
