Upcoming Entertainer "Potential Kidd" dropped by LIME over offensive lyrics
Dancehall entertainer, Potential Kidd , who recently signed his first endorsement deal with Telecommunications company LIME, has being dropped by the company due to the lyrical content in the raw version of Yah So Nice.
Ironically, the Entertainer who shot to fame with the release of this debut single, Yah So Nice earlier this year,
The decision was made on Tuesday April 3, and in a press release, LIME explained that they organized talks between Potential Kidd and persons who were unimpressed with his lyrics in the song, which allegedly promotes violence against women and condemns homosexuality, and it was agreed that the lyrics were unacceptable
LIME Jamaica’s Managing Director, Garry Sinclair has confirmed that the artiste had been replaced in the Champs promotion, and stated that the company wanted artistes to express themselves freely but responsibly.
What we would want is for our artistes to express themselves freely but responsibly and we think civil society can play a big role in this regard,.
He also stated that the company does not endorse or support any idea or sentiment that promotes unlawful or anti-social behavior.
According the statement Potential Kidd, who was present at the meeting, apologized to persons who may have been offended by the lyrics
