2011 was a very entertaining year  for the Caribbean, there were good and bad news. Some making international headlines.

Let us take a look at some one the top  Caribbean Entertainment News for regarding the lows and the highs of  2011.




Rihanna
From highest paid entertainer, magazine covers, commercials and the title of the "Hardest Working Woman" in Entertainment, Rihanna did it all in 2011. And not to mention the "Sexiest Woman Alive"

She also sets Record with 11th Number 1 Single and rreleased of six singles: S&M, California King Bed, Man Down, Cheers (Drink to That), We Found Love and her latest single, You Da One.

Rihanna single S&M provoked outrage around the world and was banned in 11 countries



Vybz Kartel
It was a year full of controversies and drama for Kartel, with controversies stemmed from skin bleaching, having own line of cake soap, Air wave ban from various countries, own reality TV show and Murder charges.


Nicki Minaj
The year 2011 was a successful year for Nicki from elegant fashion, to wacky, magazine covers, good and not so good headlines.

Her  success  with  "Super Bass"  a single from her Pink Friday album,  made top 10 in many countries. She graced the cover of  South Africa "Cleo Magazine" , W" Magazine,  Cosmopolitan, Glamour Magazine and ELLE Magazine.

Anya Ayoung-Chee
Anaya became the first Caribbean contestant to win America's Project Runway competition. The Trinidadian also debut her Carnival line.

Nandi Chin Fernandez
Jamaican designer  Nandi Chin Fernandez, won BRIDES magazine's third annual Operation Dream Dress Contest



Death of Heavy D
The Jamaican born Rapper who died  from pulmonary embolism on  November 9, 2011 at the age of 44-years-old. His death came as a shock  to many, as he had recently performed at the BET awards.



Buju Banton
What a year it was for Buju, he was convicted on Drug Conspiracy and sentenced to 10 years in prison.  It was an outcry from many of his fans.

An appeal was recently filed by his lawyers with the  United States Court of Appeal for the Eleventh Circuit in Georgia.

It was not all bad news for Buju, as he won the Grammy award for best reggae album  for "Before the Dawn"


Dr. Conrad Murray
Grenadian born Dr. Conrad Murray, was sentenced to 4 years in jail in the involuntary manslaughter death of  pop icon Michael Jackson.


Denroy Morgan
The 66 year was as arrested in September  in New York, after cops spotted him leaving a house in Bronx  carrying a package which contains 25 pound of ganja.


Caribbean Fashion Week
2011 was all about fashion, and dubbed the fashion show of the Caribbean. Caribbean Fashionweek (CFW), the seminal fashion, entertainment and lifestyle event that has come to epitomise the essence of Caribbean style.  2011 was its 11th year,  and designers  across the world got a chance to showcase their talent
