Heavy D Funeral Service takes place today

The funeral of rapper Heavy D is taking place today, Friday, November 18, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. EST. The servicewill be held at Grace Baptist Church,  in his hometown of Mount Vernon, NY

Gospel artists Yolanda Adams and Kim Burrell will pay musical tributes to Heavy D. Singers Anthony Hamilton and Johnny Gill will also pay trbutes.

Diddy, the mayor of Mount Vernon, and Denzel Washington are all scheduled to speak at the services.

Heavy D’s family have requested that, in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Heavy D and Xea Myers Fund.

Heavy D died Tuesday, November 8 in Los Angeles, CA at age 44.
