"Between Friends" a film written, directed and produced by M. Omari Jackson, was recently nominated in two categories in International Filmmaker Film Festival 2011, for Best Feature Film and Best Cinematography.
The winners were announced, and "Between Friends" captured the Best Cinematography
Jackson who is of Trinidadian and Jamaican decent, based the film on the Caribbean region of Trinidad and Tobago. The film , which is focus on a summer of exploration, revelation and change,look on the life and the relationship dynamics of a group of friends, all recent university graduates, as well as the younger sibling of one of the group and her friends.
The story begins with the university graduation celebrations, and follows the characters for a few months through their various stages of development in the plot. The film explores gender roles in Caribbean societies and relays how profoundly this impacts on our relationship dynamics and the spread of HIV and Aids. The more mature characters are in their thirties, and the film shows the pitfalls of sexual interaction between the generations. The film may be especially inspirational to film students who have studied at accredited online colleges.
