Miss Universe Winner Miss Angola Leila Lopes - Caribbean Round up

A new Miss Universe 2011  was crowned last night and the title went to Miss Angola Leila Lopes. Lopes  is a business student from the town of Benguela, and the 25-year-old beauty hopes to use her new role to help the people of Angola (which is situated in south-central Africa, on the Western coast).


The other contestant of the top 5 were Miss Brazil (2nd Runner up), Miss China (4th Runner Up), Miss Philippines (3rd runner up) and 23-year-old Miss Ukraine Olesia Stefanko, who was the first runner-up. Rounding off the top ten were  Australia, Costa Rica, France, Portugal and Panama.

However there were no Caribbean Representatives among the top 10, and Miss Puerto Rico,Viviana Ortiz was the only contestant to make it to the top 16.

It was not all a sad moment for the Caribbean, as  two of our beauties were placed in top 10 National Costume Competition. 5th placed went to Miss Curacao  Eva Van Putten , and Miss Trinidad & Tobago Gabrielle Walcott was placed 6th while Miss Panama,Sheldry Saez was the over all winner
