The Miss Earth winner serves as the spokesperson for the Miss Earth Foundation, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and other environmental organizations. About ninety) contestants from different countries and territories are expected to compete in the event.
At the conclusion of the competition, outgoing titleholder Miss Earth 2008, Karla Henry of the Philippines will crown her successor. A team of top industry professionals in Fort Lauderdale, Florida have been put in place to assist the new Miss Earth Jamaica in her preparation for the international competition. She will undertake a physical regimen of Fitness and Nutrition training with personal trainer, Loleta Riley, receive Speech and Diction guidance from media personality Winston Barnes; Catwalk Training from runway coach, Romeo Callwood; and instruction on Makeup Application, from makeup artist, Deandra Nosworthy. Noted Bahamian Fashion Designer and Wardrobe Stylist Valentino Omar of Genevieve Couture, Cuban designer Francisco Azucar of Fashions by Azucar as well as other top designers will provide an extensive national wardrobe for Miss Earth Jamaica to cover the requirements of the grueling Miss Earth competition.
