Young Saints set agency's global fashion agenda

Move over Canise, Tafari, Kibwe, Nakeisha and Colet, the new kids are in town.

Just as Barack Obama represents the change of times in politics, there is an army of new faces from the Saint camp that has been developing the wave of change for the agency, quietly grabbing the attention of some of the world's most influential agencies and power clients.

The agency is now celebrating nine glamorous years of global success and its models have appeared in campaigns, editorials and the runways of some of the world's top fashion clients including Yves St Laurent, Giorogio Armani, Roberto Cavalli, Victoria Secrets, Moschino, Vivienne Westwoodm Bennetton, Calvin Klein Fragrance, Dolce and Gabbana, Elle, Italian Vogue, PUMA Fragrance, MAC Cosmetics, W magazine and many others.

"We have been hailed by fashion observers as a trendsetting innovator that has revolutionised the fashion industry," says CEO Deiwght Peters, the creator of the successul Faces of Summer, the first televised model search in the Caribbean. Peters has also captivated audiences with Fashionblock, the annual blockbuster fashion spectacle that attracts up to 20,000 spectators in the city streets of New Kingston is the country's biggest fashion event.

The agency's international profile may have been defined by the success of models such as Tafari Hinds, Sosheba Griffiths, Sigail Currie, Canise Jackson, Kibwe McGann, Nakeisha Robinson, Kanhai Condison, Kareen Taylor and Jotasha Turnbull, but the new keds have started to make their presence felt.

"Saint has always been the vanguarde of hot new model faces from the Caribbean; supreme elegance and sophistication are the hallmarks of Saint's model culture. Our models do come from all strata of society, but they must understand the elements of developing a style profile for international projection," reveals agency boss Deiwght Peters. It has never been fully publicised that a number of Peters' newest protégés have already earned international contracts with major agencies. This is consistent with the Saint's global strategy to be the leading source of all shades of beautiful black model talent from the Caribbean.

Fresh Faces
"While a number of the agencies have been extremely excited and anxious to get started with the new faces, they understand our position that the kids must complete their schools," Peters revealed.

Among the list of fresh faces gearing up to rock the international runways are:

Chantel Lee (16) - signed to IMG- New York, Paris, Milan, Independent Models in London. She has already shot editorials for Pride Magazine and Jamaque Magazine and is currently featured in the Lee's Fifth Avenue campaign.

Veneica Bennett (18) joins IMG in March after being signed by the agency in New York, Paris, London and Milan. Veneica appeared on the premier cover of Jamque Magazine. She has also appeared for Trace Magazine.

Sheena Moulton, winner of the FashionFace2008, was signed on the spot by Muse Models in New York. Since then she has been signed to London supermodel-makers Models 1.

Anastasia Beckford, winner of the Model Icon season 1, will be with Base Models South Africa and is now in New York under development. This is her first picture from her new portfolio.

Amando Campbell, male winner of the Model Icon, is now signed to Next Models in New York and is departing in March for his development programme.

Creing Wittingham is now the toast for the new faces division at Major Models New York. He is also represented by prestigious Elite Models in Milan.

Casmar James - The FashionFace of the caribbean 2008 male winner, is signed to Fusion Models New York and will be departing later this month for two weeks to commence his global development programme.

Stacey Anderson-the charcoal beauty considered a Grace Jones/Alek Wek lookalike is on an intense development programme with Saint but has several interested agencies in New York.

Most networked Caribbean agency
Saint Models have appeared and represented by the most powerful agencies in all major and some secondary fashion markets such as New York, Miami, Los Angeles, Barcelona, Paris, China, Singapore, Capetown and Johannesburg. This makes Saint the most networked Caribbean model agency in history, securing a feature in V Magazine.

"The September 2009 international runway show season will be a defining Jamaican moment in international fashion-starting in New York," Peters confidently predicts.
