BARBADOS IS EXPECTED to be showcased in a major way as the television show Caribbean Window, featuring the island's real estate and lifestyle, starts on North American channel CBS/WSEE.

Produced and conceptualised by Barbadian Cherita Howard, its first series will highlight Barbados before a viewing audience of millions within the region and beyond.

Executive producer Howard has used her experience as a hotelier, real estate agent and marketing agent to portray Barbados as a first-class destination beyond the clichéd image of sun, sea and sand.

"Visitors will aspire to come to Barbados' shores as they see us as a Caribbean island set apart by its fine property, diverse lifestyle and amicable people," Howard said of the half-hour prime time show.

Culinary delights
It will focus on high-end real estate, a segment called Tell Me More capturing lifestyle aspects including polo, horse racing and culinary delights, and a segment offering opportunities to meet well-known locals and those who have chosen to make Barbados their home.

Caribbean Window will be telecast every Tuesday from February 24 at 8:30 p.m. on CBS/WSEE.

Howard, noting the show was conceived only four months ago after a casual conversation with someone in the local entertainment arena, said she was proud of the feedback.

"So far the word is that the show is perhaps one of the highest quality programmes produced locally in recent times. And it is expected that Barbados will certainly reap the benefits of this tremendous promotion," said Howard, a former national athlete and media personality. (RJ)
