Movie On Famous Jamaican American Rapper For Theaters

Famous Jamaican American rapper, the Notorious B.I.G., is set to be given a second life later this month, twelve years after his tragic shooting.

The life of Biggie Small, whose real name was Christopher Wallace, will be told on the big screen beginning on January 16th.

Titled, `Notorious,` the film will be released by Fox Searchlight and features multiple award winner Angela Bassett.

Bassett plays the late rapper`s mother Voletta Wallace while Derek Luke plays Sean Combs and Anthony Mackie stars as Tupac Shakur. Rapper Gravy, born Jamal Woolard, plays The Notorious B.I.G. The film also stars up and coming actors Antonique Smith as Faith Evans and Naturi Naughton as `Lil Kim.

Notorious charts the rapper’s remarkable rise from the drug-infested streets of Brooklyn to the glitz and glam of the music industry. And despite avoiding the slew of conspiracy theories surrounding his death, the movie shows the vulnerable and innocent side of someone that many saw as a hardcore street rapper.

The film is directed by George Tillman Jr. On March 9, 1997, at around 12:30 a.m., Biggie was shot four times in the chest by the unidentified driver of a Chevy impala. Biggie was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center but was pronounced dead at 1:15 a.m.

Biggie's murder remains unsolved and there are a plethora of theories as to the identities and motives of the murderers.
