Maureen Bunyan |
She is lead co-anchor of WJLA-TV ABC 7 in Washington, DC. Her career spans a collection of
reporting and hosting news programs on
National Public Radio.
She has served as the chief correspondent for PBS' Religions and
Ethics Newsweekly. She has also served as a frequent
substitute host for Talk of the Nation on National Public Radio and The
Derek McGinty Show on
WAMU Radio.
Bunyan
was
one of the founding members of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ), as well as the International Women's Media Foundation
in 1990. She has won a number of awards including Journalist of the Year,
the Immigrant
Achievement Award from
the American Immigration Law Foundation
in 2002, as well as receiving a number of local Emmys for her captivating work.

Earlier this year in Indonesia, she was crowned Miss Caribbean World - once again earning the title for
her native country, Jamaica.
Hargitay
was
born in St. Mary's parish and moved to London with her family at the age of 8.
In England, she expanded her experience visiting several European countries and
excelling in academic. She completed A-levels in German, History and Chemistry this year.
She has plans to attend
university and pursue a degree in History
and Politics. Meanwhile, she's using her platform as Miss Caribbean World to raising awareness
about child abuse and promoting youth empowerment.
