German-born Jamaican Tennis Player Dustin Brown Advances to Third Round at Wimbledon

Dustin Brown, a German-born Jamaican who is ranked No 189 in the world yesterday won his first major match when he advanced to the third round at Wimbledon after beating Lleyton Hewitt.


Twenty eight (28) year old Brown was born in Germany to a Jamaican father and a German mother but moved to Jamaica when he was twelve 12, started playing for Germany in 201 because of lack of funding from the Jamaican Tennis Federation.


In an interview with the Guardian, Brown spoke about his struggle with the Federation.

"I have two passports; I have a German passport and a Jamaican passport. Everybody knows there's a lot of trouble with the Jamaican Federation and I couldn't be bothered with that, I tried for 15 years. I'm playing for Germany now.


 
After reaching third round at SW19 for the first time in his career, Dustin was overjoyed say he cried "like a little girl".
