How To Choose The Right Makeup For Black Women

As black women, knowing how to choose the right makeup colors can be daunting and challenging because of our skin tone. Here are few guides in choosing the right makeup.

Choosing the right foundation

To obtain a flawless looking skin, chose foundation that has yellow undertone and avoid foundations that feature pink, peach and orange tone.  If you have oily, look for words like "oil-free", "oil-control" or "mattifying" on the bottle. 

 

Test the foundation on your jaw line by blending it gentle into your skin in daylight. If you barely see any foundation applied on your face then it means it is the right color for you. Never on your hands to test your foundation as they are not the same color of your face. If you cannot find perfect shade you can mix two colors.

 

 

Blush

For black women brown, copper, plum or peach are the best colors to choose for our skin tone. The right blush should highlight your gorgeous cheekbones and enhances your complexion



 

Lips
As black women we can experiment a lot with lip colors from nude and earthy tones to bold pink and dark burgundy shades. The darkest, richest shades of brown, red, wine and plum will look very flattering on women with dark skin tones. Add a little clear lip-gloss on top to give your lips more pizazz.

 

Eyes
Eye shadow is used to emphasize the eye area and provide drama. Metallic eye shadow hues work perfectly with dark skin. If you have warm skin tone then opt for gold, toffee and cocoa. If you have cool undertones the try shades of sapphire, olive green or light plum complement your skin tone
