It was Father’s Day, but the night belonged to the women in Arima. Reggae singer Siccature Alcock, aka Jah Cure, performed at the Livin Room nightclub last Sunday before scores of people. The artiste, who was released from jail on July 28, 2007, after serving eight years in prison, has since been unstoppable.
The singer hit the stage at 3.47 am on Monday morning and the women went wild.He sang, Love Is, Longing For and True Reflections, which showed his unique voice and lyrical ability. His mentor Beres Hammond must certainly be proud of the 33-year-old.
Because his half hour performance was packed with his loved hits, it seemed like he performed for a lifetime. He also soothed the audience with hits from his 2008 album—Universal Cure. Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs Anil Roberts, who is contesting the post of political leader for the Congress of the People, was also at the party. He did use the opportunity to tell T&T Guardian, “That is why they don’t like me.” He then asked: “Have you ever seen a (government) minister who mingles with the people like this on a regular basis?”
Starting the live entertainment was Tobago-born gospel/reggae singer Positive. Positive, who has not released a hit in some time showed that his previous songs have not lost favour. He sang Never Let go, Hold me Closely and Only Jah Alone.
