Miss Jamaica Universe Yendi Phillipps- First Runner-up

I want to say congratulations to Miss Yendi Phillipps, for placing second in the Miss Universe pageant last night in Las Vegas. Yendi 24 years of age advanced from a field of 83 contestants. The title was won by 22-year-old Miss Mexico Jimena Navarrete. In third place is 19-year-old Miss Australia Jesinta Campbell, fourth place: 23-year-old Miss Ukraine Anna Poslavska, and fifth place: 22-year-old Miss Philippines Venus Raj, 22.

After watching all the rounds my favourite were Miss Jamaica, Miss Mexico and Miss Miss Philippines. I think Yendi's dress made a big difference and cost her the crown. She needed a dress that showed off her "assests'. While the color was great for her skin tone, the dress did not do much justice to her.

I think her answer was great, but not many people would like it. I think that played a role too. In answering a question like that, one should try to stray away from religious answers, as not everyone share the same religious belief. I know it was her personal answer, but in a competition, one needs to make the answer as "political" as possible..

Over all well done Yendi you made Jamaicans proud

i think the gown was fine. she ranked number 2 in the evening gown behind Mexico. after the top ten her combined scores was the highest. Mexico did not answer the question on point, and she got extra time to think while the translator was interpreting her answer in English.Jamaica should have won, it was clear to see.

Miss Yendi Phillipps represent Jamaica well, i believe that we should hve came in first, but i am happen with 2nd place. we will be ready for next year.
