Meet St. Lucian Upcoming Singer Da Lonya

Da Lonya Jammie Johanne Nicole Joseph was born on Friday 25th July, 1986 and raised in Bishop’s Gap Castries St. Lucia . At a tender age, her talent for singing was recognized and nurtured by her mother.
Her first public performance is noted as singing at on of her mother's pre-school shows at the age of four.Da Lonya quickly moved from singing for family and friends, and joined her church choir. She also performed solos at various church activities. At the age of eight she was enrolled into the St. Lucia School of Ballet and Mordern Dance, where she studied ballet for several years. Da Lonya remained an active member of the parish church choir for a number of years and also as a member of the National Youth Choir.

At the age of thirteen, soon before her entry into the Leon Hess Secondary School, Da Lonya, whose talent was recognized by local music officials, was awarded the opportunity to represent St. Lucia, among other St. Lucians, at the World Championships of Performing Arts held in Los Angeles, California in 1999. Her most recent feat, was placing second in the regional Digicel Rising Star Competition out of one thousand and two hundred contestants, becoming a popular and enchanting voice across the seas and throughout the Eastern Caribbean.
