January 2010, Montego Bay will come alive with the sizzling soulful sounds and spectacular sights of a musical experience that remains unequalled anywhere else in the Caribbean. We’re talking about none other than the JAMAICA Jazz and Blues Festival, set to take over Jamaica’s second city from January 24-30.TurnKey Productions, will stage a fantastic 7 day entertainment package at several Montego Bay venues culminating in the 3 night musical explosion at the Aqueduct at Rosehall January 28-30.
TurnKey Productions has not revealed any artistes slated for the event however if Walter Elmore and his team at TurnKey continue their epic trend of selecting high calibre performers, one can discern that the selected performers will rock Montego Bay and make their mark on the tourist haven. Elmore is excited about the event and states “Jamaica Jazz and Blues is in its 14th year and we intend to celebrate this growth with great performances from some very talented stars of yesteryear and now. Patrons can expect an enhanced Festival experience they can enjoy with Family and friends.
The 2010 package is slated to supersede this year’s staging where artistes such as Estelle, Robin Thicke, Ashford and Simpson presented a Thursday night that thundered and was indeed a night to remember. Friday night was on fire with great stints on stage from Randy Crawford, Nikki Yanofsky, and Lionel Richie. Without a doubt, Saturday sizzled as Maxi Priest, The O’Jays, and Chicago brought the curtains down on this year’s Festival.
The JAMAICA Jazz & Blues experience was made more complete by the presence of the much touted ‘Jazz Village’, complete with enough food spots and more than enough variety to satisfy any craving and an array of arts and craft exhibitors.
Performers such as Alicia Keys, Kenny Rogers, Patti LaBelle, Anita Baker, Jill Scott, Earth Wind & Fire, Dionne Warwick, Kenny G, Gladys Knight, Al Jarreau, Erykah Badu and Michael Bolton have made indelible indentations on the Festival stage.
The JAMAICA Jazz and Blues Festival take place at the Aqueduct at Rosehall, Montego Bay on January 28-30, and ticket outlets and prices will be announced in the coming weeks.
