Artistes to perform in HIV/AIDS charity

Several reggae, gospel and dancehall artistes will be performing at the charity event, MUSIC in the name of LIFE on Saturday, May 30, 2009 at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre.
Music in the name of LIFE is a benefit family-concert, to fundraise $2.5 million for Martha's House in Central Kingston, operated by the Mustard Seed Communities which suffered loss of $15 million as a result of a fire on March 16, 2009.

According to the organizers they are excited with the confirmations of gospel, reggae and dancehall artistes who have pledged their support to the concert. The line up of headline performers include: Bob Andy, To-Isis, Poor and Boasy, Nadine Sutherland, Ashe, Gyptian, Omari, Rootz Underground, Steppa, Ryan Mark, D'Angel, Noddy Virtue and Jodie-Ann Pantry.
According to Lawman Lynch, the concert is a great way, of achieving the expected goals to help in providing medication, care and other necessities for children living with HIV/AIDS, at Martha's House. In a report to the Jamaica Observer, founder Father Gregory Ramkisson highlighted that the children are in need of shoes, clothes as everything was destroyed in the fire.

It cost the Mustard Seed Community approximately $20,000 per month to care for a child living with HIV. In some cases it cost in excess of $30,000 for each child. The concert will raise money to cover the cost of care for ten of the thirty HIV-infected children living at Martha's House for one year.

MUSIC in the name of LIFE is being hosted with the support of the Kiwanis Club of Constant Spring. Other sponsors and partners include the Kingston & St Andrew Action Forum (KSSAF), Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC), Roots FM and Bla-k clothing line.

Tickets are available at the Kingston & St Andrew Action Forum in Cross Road; Esso Dunrobin; the National Centre for Youth Development, Trevennion Park in Cross Road; Roots FM, Classic Gifts n Things in Portmore, and Salon Splurt at the UWI Students' Union.
