Botswana music lovers are in for a treat this Ascension Day as they would be rubbing shoulders with Jamaican-American Shaggy.
The last overseas artist to grace these shores was Shabba Ranks in 1994.
This feat has been made possible courtesy of Orange Botswana and WeSSide Entertainment.
Orville Richard Burrell, better known by his stage name Shaggy, is a Grammy nominated reggae singer who is notable for his distinctive sub-baritone voice.
Shaggy became popular in 1993 after his first hit "Oh Carolina" and further had big hits like "Boombastic" in 1995, "Angel" and "It wasn't me" in 2001.
He has nine albums to his name.According to Orange Botswana Public Relations Manager, Mr Karabo Tlhabiwe, Shaggy will be in Botswana at Fair Grounds on May 21.
Mr Tlhabiwe said his company found it fitting to bring Shaggy to Botswana as his genre is suitable for all generations.
He said people need some entertainment to get through this financial crisis, and it is what Orange Botswana, in partnership with WeSSide Entertainment is promising Batswana.
Mr Tlhabiwe noted that the show will be professionally organised, with the tightest security ever, adding that tickets will be sold according to where one will be seated.
"There will be the silver and gold arenas depending on the proximity to the stage, the closer one gets the higher it costs,' he said.
The show will also feature local artistes, amongst them Vee, Scar, DJ O'Neal and DJ Fresh, who would also be the MC for the night. He said they are expecting six to eight thousand people to attend and at the moment people who want to win themselves tickets can SMS to Orange.
Tickets will be on sale from any Orange shops around the country, starting from April 24 and they will be going for P220 and P440. People are advised to get tickets in time as they will not be sold during the show. BOPA
