The 21st Hapilos Anniversary and Digital Awards Cancelled Following Arrest of Top Executive

1st Hapilos Digital Distribution has announced that the 3rd staging of the 21st Hapilos Anniversary and Digital Awards slated for Saturday April 19, 2014 at the Chinese Benevolent Association will be postponed. The event, which was greatly anticipated, was set to reward the achievements of artists and producers in digital distribution as well as their contributions to the music industry.

In a statement issued earlier today by  21st Hapilos Executive Vice President Johnny Wonder stated that,” We at 21st Hapilos  Digital Distribution would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone associated with the event; the Jamaican recording fraternity, our sponsors, fans, supporters and those who  were slated to perform. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused” shared Mr. Wonder.      

No reason was given for the cancellation, however according to reports one of the top Executives of 21st Hapilos, Kevin Reynolds was recently arrested at JFK for a murder that was committed back in 2002.

The 21st Hapilos Anniversary and Digital Awards was previously held in 2011 and 2012.  More information will be released in due course.

21st Hapilos Digital Distribution has headquarters in Kingston and New York, and is the largest digital distributor of dancehall, reggae and Caribbean music

21st Hapilos Executive Nabbed By Feds at JFK for Decade Old Murder

evin Reynolds a reggae music executive with 21st Hapilos Digital Distribution was arrested by federal marshals at JFK Airport late Sunday night after eluding law enforcement for more than a decade. He was waiting to board a flight to Kingston, where   one of the offices is located.

Reynolds was wanted for the shooting death of Winston King in Silver Spring, Maryland that occurred in in November 2002.

Reports are that along with another man, Reynolds approached King and his 11-year-old daughter in the parking lot outside their Maryland apartment complex. Reynolds allegedly dragged King away while his accomplice puts his hand over his daughter’s mouth. She later heard gunshots and saw the men speed off, according to sources.

The daughter saw her father stagger and eventually collapses, but told cops she recognized Reynolds before he sped away, sources said.

According to the NYPost Reynolds allegedly changed his identity to become “Dennis Graham” and resided in Canarsie, Brooklyn, where he runs the music company.

Reynolds is expected to be extradited to Maryland to face murder charges.
